The latest venture from serial entrepreneur, inventor and educator Dr. Michael Feldman—T1 Visions—was featured on CNN’s “News Room” last Saturday. T1 Visions is a unique restaurant services company that is bringing modern technological innovations to the restaurant industry for entertainment, efficiency and information. T1 Visions’ two new products are 1) digital panoramic image and menu displays and 2) the T1 Connection Booth, a touchscreen table for ordering and entertainment. The CNN program was filmed at T1 Visions’ affiliated restaurant, T1 Tapas | eat.drink.connect.™ located in Huntersville’s Birkdale Village. T1 Tapas serves as a showcase and market research lab for T1 Visions’ products that enable restaurants to offer a venue for social uses of cutting-edge technology. T1 Tapas (www.T1Tapas.com) serves as an excellent platform to deliver the latest editions of T1 Visions’ technology. “We see uses and applications for this technology across the board,” says Feldman who is president and founder of T1 Visions. “Restaurants are certainly a key sector for us, but our goal is to ultimately position T1 Visions technology into other markets such as medical, academic, business, advertising and communication sectors.”

In 1991 Feldman started Digital Optics Corporation (DOC), which was the first company to use integrated circuit technology to develop optics for computers and imaging. DOC’s customers spanned the globe and included such leading manufacturers as Sony, Samsung, and Nikon. The company grew from a staff of 2 to more than 100 employees when it was sold 15 years later for $60 million to Tessera Technologies, Inc. (www.tessera.com). After selling the Charlotte-based company, Feldman and a former partner from DOC, Jim Morris, went in search of a new venture that would allow them to use their years of experience developing new technology and tracking the latest innovations.

Feldman recently competed as a finalist in UNC Charlotte’s Five Ventures® Business Plan Competition (www.FiveVentures.com) and is continuing to raise capital and build his team as T1 Visions expands. Feldman is a former faculty member at UNC Charlotte and, until recently, served as an advisor through the Center for Optoelectronics & Optical Communications at the Charlotte Research Institute on the campus of UNC Charlotte.
