The WebMySystems technology platform transplants the traditional computing model firmly into the cloud and represents a paradigm shift in web and collaborative computing. The development team at WebMySystems has delivered the first truly integrated cloud solution which can dramatically improve the efficiency of collaborative computing and, at the same time, substantially reduce IT infrastructure costs. While there has been a great deal of speculation on the Internet about the emergence of an Internet operating system from one or more of the industry giants – none have so far been able to produce anything comparable.

The IOS kernel lies at the heart of the WebMySystems operating platform and operates on OSI layer 7 applications and has a modular open architecture. The kernel is highly integrative – operating on standard Internet and network services and providing client applications with a unified interface. The kernel uses a standard HTTP-based REST API interface, ideally suited for the rapid development of SaaS/Cloud Internet applications and services, providing them with the excellent collaborative capabilities of this technology. The IOS kernel adds a layer of advanced functionality, which is readily apparent in the WebMySystems’ Synaptic File SystemTM .

The WebMySystems Synaptic File SystemTM takes the file systems concept to a completely new level. It employs a unique multi-dimensional architecture that allows documents to contain multiple media objects (images, audio and video). It also inherently supports multi-language versions of the same document, the linking of related documents to each other and the use of labels and tags to organise and search files. It also has the ability to track complete document revision history

Another key feature of the Synaptic File SystemTM is its ability to contain files inside other files. As an example, this means that users can have tasks and contacts attached to documents in the same way that they currently attach files to e-mail messages.

All these features together create an entirely new type of file system, which cannot be equalled by any existing desktop or server-based operating system or web application.

Our technology utilises a web desktop to deliver web applications with rich functionality in a platform-independent and firewall transparent way. Whilst the technology is for the cloud we also deliver custom applications that are not browser based, so custom applications can be developed for any internet connected device that will link back to the server using standard Internet protocols. At the back-end, our server infrastructure uses clusters of virtual servers, allowing excellent scalability and fault tolerance.

Quite simply we’ve taken your desktop, your applications, your local file system and your shared file system and compressed them into a web based internet platform.

Unparalleled collaborative functionality – The fundamental driving force behind the development of the system has been to allow users to collaborate seamlessly on the Internet. The Synaptic File System is a unique piece of technology that is designed to facilitate very organic levels of collaboration between unlimited users. For example, using this technology WebMySystems, or another software house, could create a universal film script writing application. This would allow multiple global users to collaborate simultaneously on the same document with changes being broadcast and refreshed constantly to all users as data is entered into the system. Genuine mobile access to Web Computing – Amongst the unique features of WebMySystems technology is the ability to access files from mobile devices. Is WebMyFiles like a virtual Desktop?

WebMyFiles does employ a virtual desktop of sorts but we prefer to describe it as a web desktop that is nothing short of a revolution in the way it allows users to access and exchange information. Taken together, our whole technology contains a number of basic applications (mail, file browser, chat and user manager etc.) with the potential to support an unlimited number of additional user apps that can share the fundamental collaborative characteristics of our technology.

Is WebMyFiles like Google Apps?

Actually, not at all. Think of our technology – in this instance WebMyFiles – as a whole computing environment. Our platform will happily support software developed by other companies that “mesh” with our own technology. Examples of these include Zoho Office and indeed Google Apps itself.

The WebMySystems architecture has been designed from the ground-up for collaboration and its features and overall integration capabilities far exceed those of any other existing system. All applications designed using this architecture will be able to take advantage of these inherent capabilities. In short WebMyFiles offers a great deal more than Google Apps but the two are by no means mutually exclusive. Users can carry on using Google Apps – just more effectively!
