Brand new Over the NET™ solutions; the latest in Cat 5 KVM technology; SOHO product innovations and a new Media Distribution Solution in TWTC Hall 1, Booth A533, A534, A539, A540

Taipei, Taiwan, May 21st, 2009. ATEN International, leading designer and manufacturer of advanced connectivity solutions, will participate at Computex 2009 – the largest IT trade show in Asia and second largest in the world – taking place in Taipei, Taiwan on June 2nd to 6th. The expert in KVM unveils four new Over-IP solutions within a live demo installation. This will include a Hideaway™ LCD KVM switch with touch screen and the new version of its successful Control Center Over the NET™ with enhanced functionalities for consolidating the entire IT infrastructure management. Furthermore, ATEN will showcase innovative SMB and SOHO KVM solutions, and for the first time introduces a Media Distribution Solution for transmitting multimedia contents.

Centralized IT Infrastructure Management Solution in Live Demo:

KN4140v, 40-Port KVM Over the NET™ is a Cat 5 KVM switch with Over-IP functionality that supports up to five bus sessions allowing one local and four remote administrators to simultaneously access separate ports via LAN, WAN or the Internet. They can remotely monitor and control up to 40 servers on a single level or as many as 640 in a two-level cascade. The KN4140v provides dual power support allowing continuous access of the switch when a power supply or power line shuts down. The device also offers Dual NICs (Network Interface Cards) for redundant LAN or two-IP operation. The Virtual Media support allows administrator to map CD-ROMs and other storage media to a remote server, and conduct file transfers, application and OS patches, and CD-ROM diagnostics remotely. The KN4140v offers advanced security features including password protection and the latest encryption technologies. The local and remote consoles offer a high video resolution of up to 1600 x 1200 pixels at 60 Hz.

KN4132, 32-Port KVM Over the NET™ enables one local and up to four remote administrators to control up to 32 servers via a Web browser or the Windows or Java applications for direct connection to the KVM switch. Dual NICs enable redundant LAN connection and failsafe access. The KN4132 features out-of-band access allowing users to control servers even when the network is down. Furthermore, by connecting a Power Over the NET™, the administrators can also manage the servers’ power functionality remotely.

CC2000, Control Center Over the NET™ is the next generation of ATEN’s software-based solution for secured and centralized access, administration and management of the entire IT infrastructure in multiple data centres, branch offices and remote locations. With the CC2000, IT administrators can effectively consolidate all Over the NET™ or other IP-based IT devices through a single IP address, and even link multiple CC2000 units to create an integrated network of devices. With the included Java software, the CC2000 supports Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE)-enabled operating systems, thus ensuring multi-platform integration and mutual operability.

The KL3116T Dual Rail Touch Screen KVMP™ Switch is an integrated LCD console and 16-port KVM switch, which features an independently retractable 17-inch touch screen monitor and a keyboard with built-in touchpad in 1U dual rail housing. The KL3116T is the first touch screen LCD KVM switch of its kind that requires no additional software to operate. It provides dual interface functionality for both PS/2 and USB environments and a USB port located under the LCD panel for easily connecting peripheral devices. Up to 31 additional switches can be daisy chained allowing administrators to control up to 512 computers from a single console.

New Matrix KVM Solution in Live Demo:

KM0932 and KM0532, 9- and 5-Console, 32-Port Matrix KVM Switches, are the newest Cat 5 Matrix KVM switches that allow 9 and 5 consoles independently and simultaneously control up to 32 directly connected servers. The KM0932/KM0532 provides dual power support allowing continuous access of the switch when one of the power supplies shuts down. The highly expandable Matrix KVM Switches can manage up to thousands of servers by cascading 3 levels of KM0932 or KM0532 or daisy chaining 7 additional slave KVM switches (KM0032, 32-Port Expansion KVM Switch). Virtual Media support allows administrators to conduct file transfers, application and OS patches, and CD-ROM diagnostics on the servers remotely. The Cat 5 cabling simplifies cable management and reduces space requirements in the server room. The new audio enabled Matrix KVM switches will have the first live demo preview at Computex this year.

Media Distribution Solution

At Computex 2009, ATEN will present its brand new Media Distribution Solution for the first time. This end-to-end digital signage/visual information system efficiently transmits high-quality audio and video content over Cat 5 cable to multiple displays from a single input source in real time. The solution consists of the VS1504 / VS1508, 4/8-Port Cat 5 Audio/Video Splitter and the VB552 VGA Over Cat 5 Repeater + Audio. When combined with ATEN repeaters in a three-level cascade installation, the splitter can support thousands of displays located up to 450m from the source while maintaining an excellent video and audio quality. The Media Distribution Solution provides screen controls at the remote sites, and features two serial RS-232 channels allowing for fully interactive digital installations using touch screens.

SOHO KVM Solutions on Display

The new CS661 – Laptop USB KVM Switch is a compact, cable-like device that has KVM functionality for laptop users to directly control a second computer. The CS661 provides seamless file transfer and access to USB 2.0 peripherals, such as external storage devices. The plug-and-play functionality and intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows laptop users to easily synchronise data on two computers or drag and drop files between them. The CS661 adjusts the resolution of the remote desktop window to match the local computer (laptop) monitor. Visitors can try out and have live experience of the CS661 at the ATEN booth in Computex.

The CS1642 / CS1644, 2/ 4-Port USB 2.0 DVI Dual View KVMP™ Switch supports two high resolution Dual Link displays at the same time. The switch allows users to control two or four dual-screen computers from one USB console, and also add two additional devices to the built-in 2.0 USB hub. For perfect video and sound transmission, the CS1642 / CS1644 supports a superior video quality (2560×1600 for DVI Dual Link, 1920×1200 for DVI Single Link), widescreen resolutions, and 2.1 channel surround sound. It is fully compliant with the DVI-Digital and DVI-Analog specification and allows independent switching of the KVM, USB and audio focus.

CS1792 / CS1794, 2/4-Port USB 2.0 HDMI KVMP™ Switch integrates HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) technology allowing users to control two or four HDMI-interface computers and add two USB devices via a built-in 2-port USB 2.0 hub to the installation. It is HDMI 1.3a and HDCP compliant, supports HDMI digital and analog monitors, high video quality (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p) and widescreen resolutions as well as Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio. The KVM, USB and audio focus can be switched independently, i.e. users can listen to sound files on one PC while accessing data of another system.

About KVM Switches – An Essential Server Management Device

A KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switch is an advanced, hardware-based solution that allows centralized access to multiple computers easily and conveniently from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. A KVM switch is useful in an extensive range of environments, suitable for SOHO users, small and medium businesses, and large corporations. Fundamentally, a KVM switch allows server rooms and data centers to optimize rack space in the IT environment, reducing costs and the clutter of keyboards, monitors and mice. Additional benefits include savings in energy consumption, server racks, cabinets, and floor space. Since a KVM switch provides access to a number of computers from a central location, IT professionals are no longer running from one server to the next, thereby streamlining workflow and increasing productivity. To meet the ever-developing needs of the globalized economy and the Internet, KVM solutions now have over-IP functionality for remote management capability that better fulfills the demands of corporations who need to manage multiple server rooms worldwide.
