Bloxx Solving Hampton School’s Web Filtering Woes

Bloxx, the web content filtering specialist, today announced that Hampton School is using Tru-View Technology to monitor and regulate Internet access for its 200 staff and 1100 students. After one-year of active use, Hampton School has already benefited from the power of the appliance’s sophisticated content filtering, specifically its flexible reclassification functionality and advanced reporting capabilities.

Prior to installing the Bloxx appliance, Hampton School was using a system that stopped them from reclassifying sites that needed to be blocked or allowed. Having to submit these requests to their managed service provider to reclassify was time consuming for the IT team and frustrating for the teaching staff. “This inflexibility made it extremely difficult to apply our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) effectively,” commented Ian Trevean, Network Manager at Hampton School.

“After evaluating a number of different web filters, we felt that Bloxx provided all of the functionality we required to more easily manage Internet access and implement and operate a more effective AUP,” added Ian. “One of the key benefits of Bloxx is definitely the ability to provide variable Internet access dependent on the students’ year group or subjects. Although Tru-View Technology automatically scans and filters websites, we can now easily permit access to blocked sites which has reduced the time spent rectifying access problems by half.”

Ian said “In addition, Bloxx’s reporting capabilities are incredibly useful – we know which sites are being requested at any given time, or if any single user is repeatedly attempting to access denied content”.

“We would not consider moving back to our previous solution. Bloxx works out slightly more expensive over three years but the time saved and ease-of-use more than make up for this. Cheap is not always best – Bloxx is in a different league” ended Ian.

About Bloxx Tru-View Technology

Bloxx Tru-View Technology uses internationally patent pending technology to analyse and categorise web pages quicker and more accurately than other web filters which use manual URL classification and keyword scoring alone.

Using advanced intelligent identification and analysis techniques, Tru-View Technology provides instant classification of web content as soon as it is accessed, even if the content has not been seen by anyone before.

Bloxx Tru-View Technology helps organisations proactively manage users’ access to web content which might lower productivity, expose the organisation to risk and liability or pose a network security threat.

An estimated 1.5 million + users already benefit from enhanced security and performance with low administration and no cost per user charges. Additional protection is provided via anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-phishing functionality.
