Team Simoco Announces Successful Completion of City-Wide TETRA Radio Network in Beijing

30 Carrier TETRA-G digital network used by local government departments to provide support and services to over 17.4 million city residents

28 May, 2009 – Radio communications specialist Team Simoco has announced the successful completion of a city-wide digital TETRA radio network in Beijing, China.

The nine-site digital TETRA network is being used by local government departments to ensure effective and co-ordinated public services are delivered to the city’s 17.4 million residents.

Installation of the TETRA-G network took place in two stages, with the first phase completed to support the integration of local government authorities with police, fire, ambulance services in Beijing during the 2008 Olympics.

As a result of the success of the initial deployment, the digital radio network has been expanded, with 30 TETRA-G base stations from Team Simoco deployed to provide robust and resilient radio communications across the city, in both the central second ring road district and north district.

According to Ian Carr, managing director of Team Simoco: “This is a major breakthrough for us, both in terms of our position in China, and also in confirming TETRA-G’s resilience in supporting mission-critical radio communications in one of the world’s largest cities.
