Brad Keselowski Zips No. 88 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet into Lead in Final Laps for Big Win
“That’s the way we roll,” were Brad Keselowski’s words immediately after driving the No. 88 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet to victory in one of the most dramatic wins of the NASCAR season.
Keselowski took today’s checkered flag for the Heluva Good! 200 at Dover International Speedway, his first win for GoDaddy.com, in his second year driving for the Internet domain name and Web hosting powerhouse.
It’s a race few spectators will forget because of the way the finish unfolded. Most fans were stunned, as the GoDaddy.com No. 88 zipped past two others in the final laps to win.
“What a thrilling race to watch and a tremendous victory,” exclaimed Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “Brad drove a smart race and the instant he had the opportunity, he made his move – it was nothing short of spectacular!”
Dale Earnhardt, Jr., drives the No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet in the Nationwide Series, which he helped design and is also Keselowski’s mentor. As owner of JR Motorsports and a fellow Go Daddy driver, Earnhardt was wearing his bright orange GoDaddy.com hat, while awaiting Keselowski’s arrival to the winner’s circle. “The Go Daddy car was running well today,” Earnhardt said with a big smile.
As Parsons pointed out, Keselowski was given an opportunity and jumped on it. “We caught a break today,” Keselowski said alluding to how Kyle Busch fell out of contention after a restart, with three laps to go, creating an inside slot.
“This team deserves it, GoDaddy.com deserves this! I have to thank everyone at Go Daddy and Bob Parsons,” Keselowski shouted on live television after landing in the winner’s circle.
This win is especially exciting for Parsons, who helped design the No. 88 GoDaddy.com Chevrolets.
“No doubt about it, Brad Keselowski is a winner,” Parsons said. “NASCAR fans know it. Go Daddy knows it. We are absolutely ecstatic to see Brad take the No. 88 Go Daddy car to the winner’s circle today.”
This has been a tough year for NASCAR drivers in terms of sponsorships. The economy has forced many longtime sponsors to scale back or pull out. Go Daddy, however, experienced unprecedented corporate success in 2008 and, in turn, expanded its sponsorship of Dale Earnhardt Jr., JR Motorsports, Hendrick Motorsports and Keselowski.
GoDaddy.com enjoyed its first Nationwide victory last August with Ron Fellows driving in Canada.
This is Keselowski’s third Nationwide Series win – his first in the No. 88 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet. Go Daddy also sponsors Keselowski this season in seven Sprint Cup Series races in which he drives the No. 25 GoDaddy.com Chevrolets.
Go Daddy’s foray into racing sponsorships started with the company’s support of IndyCar’s Danica Patrick in 2007. That sponsorship continues this year as well. Patrick, a Go Daddy Girl and IndyCar’s Most Popular driver, made history last season as the first woman ever to win in the IndyCar Series and finished third in last Sunday’s classic, the Indianapolis 500.
