Combine ALTUSEN KVM Over the NET™ switches with CC2000 management software to provide centralized management of remotely distributed IT devices
Taipei, Taiwan, June 2nd, 2009. ATEN International, leading designer and manufacturer of advanced communications solutions, today introduces a new series of ALTUSEN KVM Over the NET™ switches – KN4140v, KN4124v, KN2140v and KN2124v. Together with the CC2000 Control Center Over the NET™ management software, ATEN offers a complete centralized IT infrastructure management solution for secure and centralized management of all installed devices in multiple data centers.

The new generation of KVM Over the NET™ switches, KN4140v/KN4124v/KN2140v/KN2124v, allow one local and up to four remote operators to monitor and control up to 40 servers on a single level, or control up to 640 servers in a two-level cascade. In addition, they offer out-of-band access, including external modem support for BIOS-level troubleshooting when the network is down.

“ALTUSEN KVM Over the NET™ switches are designed with unique and powerful features that enable administrators to manage their entire server room and data center devices easily and conveniently from anywhere in the world. These switches allow corporations to minimize travel costs and Mean Time to Repair, and to ensure the highest availability of data center services possible,” said Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International.

With the dual gigabit Ethernet port and dual power supplies, these switches are built for 24/7 reliability to ensure the highest rate of availability for server room and data center services. The switch design also features Green IT solutions that include four temperature sensors to regulate up to six fans. The sensors regulate the fans to run at optimum speed, throttling down and speeding up depending on the room temperature, reducing data center IT operation costs through a more efficient use of energy.

The Virtual Media function lets user map DVD/CD-ROMs and other storage media to a remote server. This function allows administrator to conduct file transfers, application and OS patches, and diagnostics remotely. The switches also provide superior video. With enhanced fps throughput for crisp responsive video display, the switches offer resolutions up to 1600×1200 @ 60Hz; vibrant 24-bit color depth for rich remote session display. The KVM Over the NET™ switches use Cat 5 connection cables and allow the distance between KVM switch and servers to be up to 50 meters.

A special Message Board feature lets any number of remotely logged in users to exchange information and communicate with each other or to cooperatively manage the installation. A Panel Array Mode allows real-time monitoring of up to 40 servers at once. Other features that contribute to the switches’ powerful capabilities include Mouse DynaSync™, Adapter ID, and configurable network bandwidth settings.

When used in conjunction with KVM Over the NET™, the CC2000 Control Center Over the NET™ management software provides centralized management of the entire network. The CC2000 allows every device to be securely accessed and controlled by means of a single IP address.

About KVM Switches – An Essential Server Management Device

A KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switch is an advanced, hardware-based solution that allows centralized access to multiple computers easily and conveniently from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. A KVM switch is useful in an extensive range of environments, suitable for SOHO users, small and medium businesses, and large corporations. Fundamentally, a KVM switch allows server rooms and data centers to optimize rack space in the IT environment, reducing costs and the clutter of keyboards, monitors and mice. Additional benefits include savings in energy consumption, server racks, cabinets, and floor space. Since a KVM switch provides access to a number of computers from a central location, IT professionals are no longer running from one server to the next, thereby streamlining workflow and increasing productivity. To meet the ever-developing needs of the globalized economy and the Internet, KVM solutions now have over-IP functionality for remote management capability that better fulfills the demands of corporations who need to manage multiple server rooms worldwide.
