LICENSING EXPO, LAS VEGAS, June 4, 2009 – The MoonScoop Group, one of the leading worldwide family entertainment companies, announced today that it has completed a worldwide licensing agreement with Playmates Toys Inc., one of the top marketing and distribution companies in the global toy industry, for the new animated comedy/action series “Hero: 108.” The deal allows Playmates to develop and market show-related toys including action figures, vehicles, role play toys and accessories, playsets and electronic and handheld games on a worldwide (excluding Taiwan) basis.

Both groundbreaking and visually stunning, “Hero:108” is a one-of-a-kind collaboration of artists from Asia, Europe and Hollywood, led by Gamania Digital Entertainment (GDE), one of the leading publishers of online multi-player games in Asia, Moonscoop and Cartoon Network International, who are spearheading the development and direction of the innovative new program. Also involved in the co-production are Telegael Teo of Ireland and Hong Ying of China. The series is expected to launch on Cartoon Network platforms around the world in early 2010.

“Hero:108” follows the outrageous adventures of a group of brave young defenders determined to end a conflict between animals and humans in The Hidden Kingdom. The group known as First Squad includes Lin Chung, Mighty Ray, Mystique Sonia and Jumpy Ghostface. Loosely inspired by tales from the ancient Chinese novel The Water Margin, “Hero:108” features striking Asian-influenced character designs by show creator Phoenix Tarng, who is also part of Gamania’s in-house creative development team.

The toy deal with Playmates comes on the heels of recent announcements regarding “Hero:108,” including a groundbreaking multi platform promotional campaign, to include animated shorts, a Massive Multi-Player Online Game (MMOG) developed by Gamania. There is also a steady stream of additional online content being introduced, including a destination at www.Hero108.tv and a series of 108 casual Flash-based web games — all tied into the characters and themes of the series. Moonscoop has begun promoting the program to more than one million anime fans at over 50 anime conventions over the next 9 months.

“The team at Playmates are a perfect fit with ‘Hero:108,’” said Cynthia Money, President, Worldwide Consumer Products and Marketing for MoonScoop. “From the initial meeting, they fully understood how unique this brand is, compared to everything else in the marketplace, as well as the direction we want to take it. The unique designs, a whole universe of characters and locations to play with, and wealth of interesting stories will lead to a strong interest on the collectibles side as well.”

“The visuals in this series are truly astonishing and the producers have created some of the most fun characters we’ve seen in a while,” said Paul Fish, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development, Playmates. “Our creative team jumped at the opportunity to create toys and collectibles that reflect the innovative nature of the series and we look forward to sharing these fantastic concepts with our retail partners worldwide.”
