Designed by network administrators for network administrators to make IPAM easier than ever before
Toronto, Ontario – June 11, 2009 – BlueCat Networks, the IPAM Intelligence CompanyT, today announced the launch of Proteus version 3.0, the newest release of its award-winning IP Address Management solution. Proteus v3.0’s enhanced functionality greatly increases overall productivity by significantly simplifying every aspect of IP address management (IPAM) for both system administrators and users. Across-the-board enhancements to Proteus v3.0 include a redesigned user interface (UI), improved DNSSEC capabilities with NSEC3 for added security, integrated monitoring/reporting dashboards, improved scalability and superior fault tolerance – all developed to simplify daily administrative tasks to make IPAM easier than ever before. Purchasers of Proteus v3.0 will also receive free virtual appliances for use in lab testing, allowing organizations to better model and verify changes and updates to their IP infrastructure before rolling out to their production environment.
Proteus v3.0 focuses on enhancing the speed and ease of use of Proteus’ existing consolidated User Interface. With massive participation and feedback from BlueCat’s existing client base, Proteus v3.0 was designed by Network Administrators for Networks Administrators. Over the past year, v3.0 was heavily influenced by a select group of BlueCat clients who dramatically upgraded and scaled the product. The result is that Proteus v3.0 redefines the user experience to drastically reduce the time and effort required to manage an enterprise IP infrastructure on a daily basis.
Proteus v3.0’s updated and streamlined UI makes it easier than ever before for enterprise administrators to configure their DNS and DHCP services and manage their IP infrastructure. By listening closely to its customers, BlueCat has been able to improve the layout of the UI, enhance the navigation scheme and make considerable updates to the daily functions and features used most by network administrators.
Proteus v3.0 also incorporates improved Monitoring and Reporting Dashboards that deliver detailed historical data and key server performance statistics for managed Adonis DNS/DHCP appliances and for Proteus itself – making it simpler for administrators to diagnose issues and make capacity plans. BlueCat has also enhanced the management of DNSSec with improvements to key management and support for NSEC3 for added security.
“Proteus version 3.0 has the most user-friendly and fastest IPAM User Interface combined with BlueCat’s rock solid core services, and unlike other appliance-only competitor products, Proteus version 3.0 is offered in both physical and VMware versions to unify IPAM under one easy-to-use interface, whether you’re managing physical appliances, virtual appliances or a Windows environment,” said Richard Hyatt, co-founder and CTO, BlueCat Networks. “Understanding that network administrators already have too much on their plate, we developed Proteus version 3.0 to significantly ease their workload by ensuring that IP infrastructure management doesn’t have to be a frustrating and time-consuming affair,” Hyatt continued. “The feedback from our beta testing community has confirmed that we’ve achieved our goal of making IPAM easier than ever before – customers love what we’ve done with the product.”
The launch of Proteus v3.0 also introduces BlueCat’s Data Validation, an additional layer of validation that provides administrators with the option to automatically validate DNS and DHCP configuration data before loading a deployed configuration. Built on the success of its existing Data Checker and Workflow features BlueCat’s Data Validation makes it simple for administrators to proactively detect a bad configuration and prevent it from being loaded into DNS or DHCP.
Proteus v3.0’s newly-enhanced functionality also enables administrators to manage multiple versions of the Adonis DNS/DHCP appliance and Windows DNS/DHCP servers from a single Proteus device. This greatly simplifies the update process and provides additional scalability. Administrators can now selectively update individual DNS/DHCP servers managed by Proteus, while still being able to manage servers on older revisions of the software – which is especially important for large distributed networks.
With the latest version of its market-leading physical and virtual appliances, BlueCat further underscores its commitment to enhancing enterprise IPAM by making it simpler and more secure than ever before to centrally deploy, manage, monitor and audit the fast-growing number of IP addresses across an entire organization. Proteus v3.0 is available to all current customers with a valid support and maintenance agreement at no extra cost through BlueCat Networks’ Technical Support. Customers can contact BlueCat Networks to learn how to download and apply the update. BlueCat will also be providing a free virtual testing lab to all customers that purchase Proteus v3.0.
