Prism Microsystems today announced that it has contracted with EWA-Canada to conduct security testing and validation of its industry leading comprehensive SIEM (Security Information and Event Log Management) solution, EventTracker, for the purpose of achieving Common Criteria certification at Evaluation Assurance Level 2+.

Common Criteria is an internationally endorsed framework for evaluating security capabilities and features of commercial technology products. It is accepted by 25 countries through the CCRA (Common Criteria Recognition Agreement), including the United States Government which requires federal agencies to procure only those commercial security products that have been tested by an accredited laboratory against the Common Criteria guidelines, as mandated by the National Information Assurance Acquisition Policy.

“Several government agencies have already determined EventTracker to be a critical element of their security and compliance best practice implementations. By dedicating resources to the Common Criteria process and contracting with a leading laboratory, federal agencies such as those in the Department of Defense can proceed with the assurance that we are committed to meeting extremely stringent security requirements and scrutiny,” said Steve Lafferty, VP of Marketing at Prism Microsystems.

To facilitate the process, Prism Microsystems has contracted with EWA-Canada, a leading Canadian Information Assurance consulting firm specializing in independent third-party evaluation and testing of products in its Common Criteria, FIPS 140 2 Cryptographic Module and Security Content Automation Protocol test labs. The Common Criteria certification process typically takes one year to complete.

“EWA-Canada is pleased to be working with Prism Microsystems on the Common Criteria evaluation of their EventTracker product,” stated Erin Connor, director of the EWA-Canada Common Criteria Test Lab. “Through this evaluation Prism will be demonstrating their commitment to provide high quality tools for their customers to employ in their critical networks.”
