The Seattle Sounders FC and Symetra Financial announced today a new partnership to sponsor “Symetra Active Bodies Active Minds”, a program designed to promote mental and physical fitness among elementary school students.

Symetra Active Bodies Active Minds includes visits by Sounders players to local elementary schools to talk to students about the importance of staying active. Children will have story time with the players, geography lessons from their hometowns across the globe, and learn fun exercises.

“When kids are active they feel better and get more out of life,” said Mike Flood, vice president of Community Relations for Sounders FC. “With this new youth program, the Sounders and Symetra will help children develop a lifetime of good healthy habits.”

Symetra is proud to partner with the Seattle Sounders FC to deliver Active Bodies Active Minds to the Puget Sound area. This Major League Soccer program empowers children to achieve their goals through mental and physical exercise.

Symetra Active Bodies Active Minds also encourages kids to also stay engaged during the summer months. Through the Web site www.SoundersFC.com/getactive, they can sign up to record reading and fitness goals, and find useful tips and information on ways to stay healthy. The site includes reading curriculum, well balanced recipes, creative ideas for exercising, and much more.

“Education and wellness are important principals for Symetra,” says Jim Pirak, vice president of Corporate Marketing for Symetra Financial. “With Symetra Active Bodies Active Minds we hope to encourage students to take charge of their future.”
