Two Production Companies that Attended PIC Animação in São Paulo Win Deals with Broadcasters at Pitching Session

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

NEW YORK – (June 22, 2009) – Producers of Captain Constantine and the Salty Pudding Island and Jorel’s Brother, two exciting new animated programs chosen by broadcasters at a special pitching session held at the 10º Forum Brasil, credit their new found success to the training they received in workshops at Brazilian TV Producers – BTVP in São Paulo: PIC Animação.

Chosen from work submitted by 25 producers from different Brazilian states, Split Film’s Captain was nominated as the best program by a jury of executives from Cartoon Network, Discovery Kids, MTV Brasil, Nick and TV Rá Tim Bum. Vitória – ES-based Mirabólica’s Jorel was chosen by Cartoon Network to receive the US$ 20,000 award to develop the project. Jorel’s Brother, which is planned for an initial 52×11′ series, will now go into development and is likely to premiere on Cartoon Network Latin America some time next year.

“The producers of the winning programs worked diligently with our distinguished team of international consultants to master the fine art of pitching a television program. As a result of their extensive training and hard work, these two wonderful new programs will soon be available to eager to young audiences,” said Jacques Bensimon, BTVP Senior International Consultant.

.The pitching session was the second phase of the International Training Program in Animation, a training and workshop event hosted by BTVP in May 2009, which was attended by more than two dozen Brazilian production companies. The session gave producers of the top five Brazilian projects selected at the training workshop the opportunity to present their projects to a panel of leading U.S. and international broadcasters who are shopping for fresh new programming.

Established in 2004, BTVP was created to support and introduce Brazil’s extensive resource of independent producers and production companies to the global market place. The group continuously seeks to increase awareness for/and to support the development of new partnerships between Brazilian and international companies by securing business opportunities in the areas of co-production partnerships, production and distribution services, broadcast partners for TV (terrestrial and cable) and partnerships in the production and distribution of multi-platform entertainment for internet, mobile and other online media

The BTVP groups diverse programs and events, created specifically to expand the country’s entertainment production efforts, has led to the development and production of an estimated 50 TV projects (in a variety of genres) in partnership with 12 countries (Germany, Canada, Spain, U.S.A., France, India, England, Japan, Malaysia, Portugal, Check Republic and Singapore.) resulting in establishing Brazil’s independent producers as leading creators and distributors of high quality entertainment programs. With an estimated 50 million dollars in production and distribution agreements since 2005, locally produced content is now broadcast in an estimated 118 countries.
