OSS/CADTM at heart of partnership to deliver a step change to unify OSS and BSS silo data

London, UK, July 6th, 2009 – Today, Ontology Systems, the company behind the ground breaking OSS/CAD Revenue Assurance and Service Management application, and CACI, the IT and OSS/BSS solutions provider to the telecommunications service provider community, announce a new partnership to provide a radically new Service Management solution for OSS/BSS systems used by telecommunications operators and service providers.

Based on OSS/CAD, Ontology’s semantics-based application, the joint solution will use existing “raw and dirty” OSS/BSS systems data to rapidly find the implied model relating customers, services and network assets. The solution, which can be deployed in just several weeks, finds alignments that unify the separate OSS/BSS silos, and simultaneously identify the misalignments ultimately caused by poor data quality. The solution then runs continuously to spot data misalignments.

The partnership was formed as part of the successful deployment of OSS/CAD for QinetiQ (see QinetiQ selects Ontology Systems for Service Management – http://www.ontology.com/newsevents/news-releases/qinetiq-selects-ontology-systems ) where CACI and Ontology provided key network service assurance functionality for the UK Ministry of Defence‘s Enabling Secure Information Infrastructure (ESII) programme, for which QinetiQ is the lead services provider.

Simon Pearson, OSS/BSS Business Unit Manager, CACI commented: ”OSS/CAD’s unique use of semantic technology and ontologies provides a hitherto unachievable degree of agility and flexibility in bringing together data from a variety of heterogeneous network and operational support systems to form a virtual unified service model of the operational environment. This resulting service model is a key enabler to deliver a radically fresh approach to the Service Management solution for service providers.”

Ontology Systems’ CEO, Benedict Enweani added: “CACI has a great track record for delivering solutions in Telecom OSS/BSS and we are pleased they are able to deliver the benefits of OSS/CAD in such a challenging deployment environment. OSS/CAD’s capability to rapidly align multiple heterogeneous systems will deliver Service Management benefits that include a lower cost of ownership, the highest level of agility and the ability to embrace ongoing changes in the overall systems.”
