SEAGATE CTO MARK KRYDER HONORED AS TOP TECHNOLOGY INNOVATOR BY VARBUSINESS MAGAZINE
SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif.—21 December 2004— Dr. Mark Kryder, chief technical officer and senior vice president of Research at Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX), was recognized by VARBusiness magazine as a top Technology Innovator for 2004. The honor was given to Dr. Kryder for his contribution to the storage industry and helping establish Seagate as a leading technology company fueling the invention of new storage products that push the IT envelope.
Dr. Kryder identified the 2004 demonstration of world-record magnetic recording areal densities near 200 Gigabit per square inch as Seagate’s top technology innovation. Seagate has consistently lead the industry in setting areal density records, in addition to being at the forefront of forthcoming storage technologies such as perpendicular recording, probe storage, and Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR). No other company is as well-positioned as Seagate to both develop and deliver these advanced technologies to the market at the right time with the right features to meet customer needs.
“I am honored that VARBusiness has decided to include me as a top Technology Innovator for 2004,” said Kryder. “However, this recognition belongs to the Seagate R&D team who have enabled Seagate’s recent technical accomplishments. I’m very proud of this team of dedicated people that have helped make Seagate the number one disc drive manufacturer in the world and who have recently enabled Seagate to introduce 12 new disc drive products.”
