Celebrates Opening with Wine Tasting to Benefit Project Angel Food
After ten months of construction, the new West Hollywood Pavilions is open for business again.
The 52,000 square foot grocery store was completely rebuilt from the ground up and provides customers with a new look and new departments to meet every imaginable customer need and convenience.
“We’ve got all the major essentials of a modern day grocery store, plus a lot of bells and whistles,” said Vons President Tom Keller.
The store includes a full service pharmacy and deli department, as well as a Starbucks, Jamba Juice, sushi bar and state-of-the-art temperature controlled wine cellar.
“Customers can also find a wide selection of fresh, local and organic produce and natural, organic meat and seafood,” added Keller.
And, as if that’s not enough to be excited about — 265 new union jobs were created because of the store, which is also expected to generate over $2 million in sales tax annually for the City of West Hollywood.
West Hollywood Mayor Abbe Land couldn’t be any happier.
“West Hollywood and our neighboring communities have been waiting for this new and improved Pavilions,” said Mayor Land. “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome them back.”
Over 300 community members joined Mayor Land and members of the West Hollywood City Council on Wednesday evening for a wine tasting reception hosted by Pavilions to benefit Project Angel Food, which is celebrating their 20th anniversary.
“Project Angel Food is proud to be a part of the grand opening celebration of the West Hollywood Pavilions,” said Project Angel Food CEO Margaret Steele. “We are both dedicated to healthy eating, healthy lives and a deeply connected community.”
A ribbon cutting ceremony with the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce was also held on Thursday afternoon, after which the store officially opened for business. The West Hollywood Pavilions is located at 8969 Santa Monica Boulevard and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
