UTSTARCOM NAMED BEST BROADBAND SYSTEM INTEGRATOR COMPANY

Gurgaon, July 27, 2009 – UTStarcom, Inc. (Nasdaq: UTSI) today announced that it has been awarded the Best Broadband System Integrator Company in India at the INFOCOM CMAI National Telecom Award 2009.

UTStarcom was recognized by INFOCOM CMAI for successfully integrating its infrastructure with telecom service providers to enable multi-play broadband (a.k.a. Triple-Play broadband) in India. These broadband services enable users to access voice, data and video on the same broadband connection at fast speeds that were previously unattainable.

Shri Gurudas Kamath, Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications and IT presented the award to Mr Vijay Yadav, managing director of UTStarcom’s South Asia operations, at the gala award ceremony held at Le Meridien in New Delhi on 24th July 2009. The event was attended by telecom operators, enterprise solution providers, equipment manufacturers, exporters, technology providers, and systems integrators from the ICT arena in India.

The INFOCOM CMAI National Telecom Awards 2009 is the most recent in a series of prestigious award wins for the company in India. VARIndia named UTStarcom the “Most Trusted Company” in India in the areas of broadband and IPTV leadership in 2008, and the Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association (TEMA) in India recognized UTStarcom with an “Excellence in Telecom Services and Solutions” award for the company’s innovation and direct impact on India’s telecom market growth.

The company also has Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) contracts with leading service providers in India including Bharti Airtel in Delhi NCR, and with Aksh Optifibre for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in 20 cities across India and with Aksh Optifibre for Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd.
