A trio of live and exclusive match telecasts highlights Fox Soccer Channel’s opening weekend coverage of England’s Barclays Premier League. It marks the 11th consecutive season of action from the world’s most popular league on America’s premier soccer television destination.

The 2009/10 campaign gets underway on Saturday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m. ET when emerging contender Aston Villa – led by veteran American goalkeeper Brad Friedel – hosts Wigan. The live action continues at 12:30 p.m. with Everton facing Arsenal in a showdown of two top-five finishers from last season. Saturday’s tripleheader coverage concludes with Stoke City vs. newly promoted Burnley at 2:30 p.m.

Fox Soccer Channel will then televise another enticing Premiership match-up on Sunday, August 16 with Tottenham hosting perennial power Liverpool at White Hart Lane, live at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Next weekend also marks the return of Fox Soccer Channel’s live studio programming, including Fox Soccer Match Day, airing in two half-hour editions every Saturday. Host Christian Miles and analyst Warren Barton – a former Newcastle United and English National Team defender – will set the stage for each day’s slate of Premiership matches at 9:30 a.m. ET, and return to recap the morning’s fixtures at 12:00 p.m. Then, on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET, Super Sunday + breaks down all the weekend’s action with 90 minutes of highlights and analysis from Miles, Barton and former professional player Keith Costigan.
