Hondo Green Offers Online Tools and Consulting Services for Companies Looking to “Go Green”

In an effort to help companies bridge the “eco-gap” to more sustainable business practices, The Hondo Group today announced the launch of a new practice group called Hondo Green. With a focus on ease and affordability, Hondo Green will employ a suite of proprietary online diagnostic tools and in-person consulting services to assist clients in developing effective corporate sustainability initiatives.

The cornerstone of the Hondo Green practice is a suite of proprietary, internet-based assessment and monitoring tools that have been designed to measure and monitor carbon usage. Hondo Green consultants use information gathered from the online tools to help businesses define, communicate and reinforce social, financial and environmental goals that guide employees in implementing green practices that reduce their overall carbon footprint in the workplace. The proprietary system can be scaled to accommodate large companies with multiple offices, as well as small businesses with a single location.

The Hondo Green online assessment tools were developed in conjunction with Shena Turlington, an internationally recognized environmental consultant who brings a wealth of real-world experience to her mission of greening the corporate world. In addition to advising clients such as Audi and Volkswagen on corporate greening strategies, Turlington manages greening operations for large-scale events and focuses on creating new models for sustainable communities.

It’s a Smart Business Decision

“Going green is a smart business decision,” said Courtney Kleefuss, Hondo Green manager. “In fact, the Center for Energy and Climate Solutions recently reported that companies frequently gain returns of 40-50 percent on energy-saving investments. The challenge comes in knowing where to start and, more importantly, how to follow through on green changes. Is it enough to recycle office paper or encourage car pooling? What constitutes an environmentally sustainable practice, and how do such practices affect a company’s bottom line? Hondo Green can help companies not only answer these questions, but also put them into practice.”

Communications is Key to Successful Implementation

While assessment, planning and monitoring are key to corporate greening efforts, Kleefuss also stresses the importance of communication in successful implementation of a corporate sustainability initiative.

“We believe that integrating key messages about a company’s commitment to sustainable business practices is critical to creating employee support and ongoing participation in a corporate sustainability initiative,” Kleefuss said. “As a result, Hondo Green’s communications professionals will help clients devise plans for communicating with employees about various aspects of their sustainability program, as well as informing and educating external stakeholders on the importance of environmental stewardship in the workplace.”
