SAMSUNG Releases Premium LCD Monitor with Iconic Design

Samsung Electronics strengthened its position as a design icon in the global monitor market with the release of a premium LCD monitor (model name: SyncMaster 971P) which boasts a unique design with geometrically shaped stand. The new model allows users to focus more on the contents of the screen by covering half of the unique “S” shaped stand, giving the impression that the monitor is floating in the air. To break away from a conventional monitor shape and achieve geometric beauty, Samsung offers a more stable device design and an even slimmer triple-hinge stand, which completes the unique look of this model.

All cables and menu buttons, including the power switch, are hidden, so as not to show from the front. High-glossy material is used to realise a neat and tidy look. The model comes in both black and white, adding to customer choice. As for features, the SyncMaster 971P provides both horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 178Ëš, 1500:1 contrast ratio, and 6 ms response time, realizing the best quality images on the screen. USB 2.0 ports on the monitor maximize user convenience by giving easier access when connecting digital cameras and camcorders.

Samsung has been the leading innovator in the global monitor market for many years. In 2002, the company introduced the “folding monitor” with a dual hinge stand, starting a new trend in the industry. It continued the design revolution by releasing a button-less premium monitor (SyncMaster 173P/193P) in red, blue and silver tones, starting a colour wave in the industry and sweeping globally renowned design awards such as Germany’s iF design, reddot, IDEA of the US, and Good Design of Japan. Last year, Samsung came up with a triple hinge stand that even moves like human joints. This product also received a range of important awards including iF, reddot, Good Design and the ergonomics design award from the Ergonomics Society of Korea. Samsung has been the trendsetter in the market with designs that show deep consideration for user convenience.

Samsung started new product planning and development with a consumer survey in December last year, in order to release a new model that would be seen as a work of art beyond its function as a premium monitor. This product was introduced in Korean in June and in the global market in July. Samsung has already positioned itself as a premium brand by setting up its monitors in the Gogh Museum in the Netherlands and the Art History Museum in Austria. With the launch of this latest monitor, the company will promote the product as a work of art by exhibiting it in museums and art galleries.
