19 Entertainment, a wholly owned subsidiary of CKX, Inc. (Nasdaq: CKXE), today announces that it has acquired a 51% ownership stake in Storm Model Management Ltd, the leading UK-based model agency run by Sarah Doukas and her brother Simon Chambers.
Storm is one of the world’s leading model talent agencies. Founded in London by Ms. Doukas in 1987, the agency represents an international roster of clients that includes Kate Moss, Jourdan Dunn, Lily Cole, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Carla Bruni, Emma Watson and many others. It has remained at the cutting edge of fashion and lifestyle for over twenty years.
This deal is a continuation of CKX’s mission to form partnerships with high-value entertainment companies or individuals. Storm joins a roster that includes Muhammad Ali Enterprises, Elvis Presley Enterprises, David Beckham, Victoria Beckham, “American Idol” and other world-famous entertainment brands.
19 Entertainment has a growing fashion portfolio which includes a joint venture with multi-platform fashion media brand Fashionair.com, Victoria Beckham’s critically acclaimed dress collection which sits alongside her denim and sunglass lines, a multimillion-dollar fragrance partnership with Coty, and a joint venture with designer Roland Mouret.
Ms. Doukas, Mr. Chambers and 19 founder and CKX director Simon Fuller have been in talks for over a year, working on a deal that will help create new joint entertainment platforms for its talent, as well as developing the Storm brand in new and exciting directions.
Ms. Doukas comments: “Storm has exceeded my expectations and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved to date. We are a London-based business and it has long been my plan to develop and broaden the agency to benefit our incredible talent, and to work directly with my own teams in other influential areas. Working with Simon Fuller and 19 will provide Storm with the opportunity to work competitively, creatively and on an international level.”
Mr. Fuller comments: “Storm Models is one of those special companies with a unique sense of style and integrity. With 19 moving more into the world of fashion and style, the opportunity to join forces with Storm and its incredible heritage and dynamic approach to the future, was irresistible. Together we can push the boundaries, blur the lines and redefine what a model agency should be in this fast-moving world where fashion is playing an increasingly important role in setting and reflecting culture and tastes.”
