Grammy winning musician reinforces the event’s growing reputation as a must-see fall music festival that brings big names to the ‘burbs

Jonny Lang, the Grammy winning musician who rocketed from his hometown of Fargo to international renown by his mid-teens, will headline the sixth annual Septemberfest music festival in Eagan on Saturday, Sept. 19. Lang will be preceded by the popular Twin Cities blues/funk band Root City, and Kansas-based blues group Moreland & Arbuckle.

Septemberfest is planned and managed by Faithful Shepherd Catholic School and takes place on the school’s grounds, located at 3355 Columbia Drive in Eagan — just east of the Yankee Doodle Road and Lexington Avenue intersection. Performances take place rain or shine in a concert pavilion, which combines the benefits of an open-air music festival with shelter from cool fall weather and rain.

Tickets are $20 in advance through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13; $25 after that and at the gate. Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.septemberfestrocks.com, or after weekend masses at St. John Neumann or St. Thomas Becket Catholic churches in Eagan, and the Church of St. Peter in Mendota.

The event gate will open at 5:30 p.m. Parking is free. Beer and other adult beverages, sodas, water, and Jake’s City Grille food selections will be available to purchase. Beverages will be discounted from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Concertgoers must be age 21 or older. No recording devices are allowed.

“This year’s Septemberfest will be a feast for the ears of blues fans in this area and the broader region,” said Father Charlie Lachowitzer, Faithful Shepherd board president and St. John Neumann pastor. “We are absolutely thrilled to have Jonny Lang as our headline act. He is a strong testament to Septemberfest’s growing reputation as a high-quality fall music festival that people talk about and look forward to each year. Last year, we drew record crowds with the BoDeans as our headline act, and event followers have been eagerly watching throughout the summer to find out who we will feature this year. We expect a strong demand for tickets with Jonny Lang leading the show.”
