HomePlug Hybrid TV Set offers Internet service providers with complete broadband and satellite signal distribution to end customers

At the International Broadcast Conference 2009, devolo, the global leader in the HomePlug powerline market, is showcasing its HomePlug Hybrid TV Set, a cost-effective in-house solution for delivering comprehensive IPTV programming over powerline, even in regions with relatively poor broadband network infrastructure.

Hybrid TV allows IPTV services to be supplied via both broadband and satellite, and devolo’s latest HomePlug solution enables Internet Service Providers to deliver reliable and high quality signal distribution to end customers. Latency- and bandwidth-critical content continues to be delivered via DSL, while TV formats are transmitted to the house via satellite.

The HomePlug Hybrid TV Set consists of a dLAN DVBS2 satellite TV system that distributes the live TV signal throughout the house in full HD quality over electrical wiring at xDSL and FTTH-compatible transfer rates of up to 200 Mbps.

An additional benefit of devolo’s Hybrid TV powerline solution is that it is scalable, enabling additional tuners to be easily integrated to meet the demands of the digital home and taking IPTV to every room in the house. dLAN also has a guaranteed range of 300 meters in buildings, making it the cost-efficient solution for hybrid IPTV in all end-customer scenarios.

“devolo has always been a technological innovator, and with this innovative hybrid TV solution, we are demonstrating the comprehensive solutions that can be implemented with powerline”, said Heiko Harbers, CEO of devolo AG. “We look forward to presenting this cost-efficient technology to Internet service providers at the IBC.”

devolo will also showcase its dLAN 200 Avmini, which enables fast and easy networking of computers and other network-compatible terminal devices over electrical wiring. The dLAN 200 Avmini connects devices at up to 200 Mbps on a line length of up to 300 meters, benefits from an ultra-compact housing design and features Dynamic PowerSave energy-saving technology, which reduces energy consumption by up to 50%.

Visitors to IBC will also be able to see the dLAN® 200 Avplus, devolo’s most popular product in the ISP, telecommunications and operator segment. Its integrated power outlet means that users do not lose the use of a power outlet when using the adaptor. In addition, the integrated mains filter improves data transfer in the home network, providing IPTV-compatible transfer rates of up to 200 Mbps. The device also features the patented Dynamic PowerSave energy-saving function, and is the only HomePlug adapter on the market that allows devices with up to 16 amps to be operated.
