ETISALAT DB TO OUTSOURCE IT APPLICATIONS & INFRASTRUCTURE REQUIREMENTS TO TECH MAHINDRA

~ The association with Tech Mahindra would provide speed to market & cost efficiencies for Etisalat DB’s Greenfield venture in India~

MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 07, 2009: In keeping with its forthcoming roll-out of telecom services in India, Etisalat DB Telecom and its subsidiary, today, signed the LOI (Letter of Intent) with Tech Mahindra to manage the IT applications and infrastructure requirements for its proposed roll-out across 15 circles. Valued at over Rs. 2000 crores (USD 400 million), this association is intended to be spread over a period 10 years. Tech Mahindra is one of the leading IT solutions and service providers to the telecommunications industry.

Under the terms of the LOI (Letter of Intent), Etisalat DB and its subsidiary would outsource implementation of its end-to-end IT applications & infrastructure including system integration and managed services to Tech Mahindra. The prime IT applications stack for Etisalat DB involves components in the BSS (Business Support System) and OSS (Operating Support System) domain.

Drawing from Tech Mahindra’s extensive international expertise of setting up Greenfield IT operations across the world, Etisalat DB has entered into this market realistic association that will ensure faster go-to-market and a cost-effective roll-out of services.

Confirming the association, Official Spokesperson, Etisalat DB said, “Tech Mahindra has the required domain and process expertise with a proven track record as part of Etisalat’s launch of operations in Egypt. We are confident that Tech Mahindra’s exhaustive pool of IT skills and innovative delivery models will assist us in the forthcoming roll-out of service in India and delivering the best services & customer experience in the market.”

In UAE, Etisalat GSM coverage has reached 100% and 3G coverage reached 99% of the populated areas. Offerings include ‘triple play’ service that includes high speed internet, TV and fixed lines through fiber optic. In addition to voice and data networks Etisalat also offers E-Vision cable TV networks. Etisalat has recently completed the nationwide upgrade of its 3G mobile network to enable mobile broadband download speeds of up to 14.4 Megabits per second (Mbps) across the UAE and other benefits. Globally, Etisalat has roaming deals with 520 operators.
