Moscow, Russian Federation – Stas Olekhnovich today released HereYouAre 1.0, his new application for iPhone and iPod touch. “HereYouAre” provides its users with an opportunity to share their locations using the latest Apple’s Push Notification technology. While the idea of location exchange is not totally new, the implementation is the fastest and the most user friendly to date. There is no need to keep an application running, no need to use emails or SMS and open embedded Maps links.

A pin on a map is worth a thousand words. The main function of HereYouAre is to show you that simple location pin, making long explanations excessive. Thanks to GPS-enabled iPhone devices and the latest Push Notifications technology, it’s now possible to introduce a neat and simple way to exchange locations with your friends and peers. “HereYouAre” provides you with an easy to manage list of your peers. Once you know your friend’s username and codeword, you can add him to that list and ask him/her a simple digitally encoded question “Where are you?”. Your question will then transform into a push notification. Of course, it’s up to your friend whether to reply to you or not. Simply because to send a location he/she needs to start HereYouAre and a notification is just an offer to do so, not a demand.

To show you locations, “HereYouAre” uses another IPhone OS 3.0 new feature – embedded Maps. So, once a reply from your peer has arrived, it’s shown as a pin immediately. Another interesting feature is the possibility to link a peer from “HereYouAre” to an Address Book record, so that record’s name and photo will be used inside the “HereYouAre” application.
