Paris, 12 September 2009 – GlobeCast announces that its product Content Exchange, a video sharing and transfer solution, has just received Inmarsat certification. Inmarsat is a global leader in the area of mobile satellite transmission. GlobeCast Content Exchange is a simple, quick and secure solution that allows communities of professionals (journalists, engineers, military personnel etc) to send and share audiovisual content with other colleagues from any point on the globe.
GlobeCast Content Exchange allows users to transmit very heavy video files as easily as sending an email or uploading a video from a webcam. A large range of functionalities are available with the product, including file repurposing and secure storage, as well as chat and SMS functions. Thanks to its compatibility with the BGAN network, Content Exchange can be used with an optimal amount of guaranteed bandwidth, ranging from 256kbps to 384 kbps, within a secure VPN environment.
Inmarsat’s BGAN solution and GlobeCast Content Exchange are a perfect pair in terms of simplicity and user-friendliness. The small BGAN terminal connects to either a PC or Mac with one click. The equipment itself is light enough to allow the user relative autonomy, allowing him or her to transmit video content freely from any point worldwide.
TF1, France’s leading broadcaster, uses Content Exchange with BGAN in the field to share reports and bring them back to Paris.
“Content Exchange has truly enhanced our abilities on a daily basis, thanks to the user-friendly interfacem flexible functionality and tight security that it offers,” said Lucien Setton, Director of Outdoor Production for TF1.
Content Exchange in constant evolution
In 2005, the year that it was launched, GlobeCast Content Exchange was named « Product of the Year » by Cable and Satellite International magazine. The next major step came in 2008, when Content Exchange launched a « Mac Ready » version to respond to demand from Mac users.
The BGAN certification is the latest recognition of GlobeCast’s innovative position in the market. It means that GlobeCast joins the privileged circle of Inmarsat partners, and marks yet another step in the evolution of Content Exchange.
With this key endorsement, GlobeCast can offer this top-notch product to a whole new set of prospects.
