The average Brit will spend more than TWO YEARS of their lives bored to tears, it was revealed yesterday (15th of September 2009).

Fed up folk spend at least five hours and 59 minutes of every week feeling completely and utterly bored with life.

That’s an astonishing 13 days a year spent feeling disinterested with life, which equates to 786.5 days over the average adult lifetime of 60.5 years.

And the main reason for being bored stiff is having no money.

The poll of 10,000 people across the UK, conducted by online quiz site www.triviala.com revealed 55 per cent are bored rigid of having to watch the pennies and budget to get through the month.

Another 47 per cent of people get aggravated and impatient with having to wait in queues for people to serve them.

And for 45 per cent of people listening to people whine about feeling ill is one of their biggest annoyances.

Other things which bore people include reality television, work, their social life and eating the same food day in and day out.

Scott O’Donnell, spokesman for www.triviala.com said: “This survey is quite depressing, as it shows that most people are dissatisfied with the humdrum of daily life.

“It comes as no surprise to learn that a percentage of us are bored with work at times, and deciding what to eat on a daily basis can be tedious.

“But it’s easy to avoid the dullness of television adverts, Big Brother and reality television as there are other simpler ways to enjoy life.”

The top 50 things which makes us bored also shows that 39 per cent of people can’t bear feeling ill, whilst the same percentage loath golf on television.

Thirty eight per cent of Brits are sick and tired of hearing about the MP expenses row, and 32 per cent get impatient listening to hold music when phoning the bank.

Traffic and congestion are a nightmare for 32 per cent, whilst 13 per cent are bored of taking the same journey to work everyday.

More than one in 10 people are fed up with their wardrobe of clothes, and wish they could have a makeover.

Whilst dieting proves tedious for 17 per cent of people.

Other ‘bores’ include sex life, waiting for nails to dry, worrying about job security, going to the gym, losing the football and waiting for a baby to be born.

Scott O’Donnell continued: “Seven out of 10 people polled admit they log onto the internet when they are feeling bored and this can be a great way to keep the mind occupied.

“The Triviala website offers a host of fun quizzes, so if you like celebrities, moves, sport or history they can distract even the most bored people.”

The poll also reveals 3 o’clock in the afternoon as the time we are most likely to feel bored.

And for most people, after logging onto the internet to alleviate their boredom, 51 per cent watch TV and 47 per cent eat.
