New slim, light laptop PCs blend state-of-the-art technology and understated elegance
LONDON, UK, Sep. 17, 2009 – HP today unveiled a new luxury consumer sub-brand, HP ENVY, which combines precision-crafted design, leading-edge technology and superior support for a premium computing experience. The first products in the ENVY family are two exquisitely designed thin and light laptop PCs, HP ENVY13 and HP ENVY15.
“HP ENVY was created to be the technology of luxury, for design-conscious customers who crave high performance and settle for nothing less than the best. It complements our existing consumer ranges, HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario, designed respectively for mainstream and cost-conscious customers,” said Ben Perrins, HP’s Consumer Business Development Manager, UK. “With ENVY, we focused on designing the whole experience, not just the product – and it shows in every detail, from the elegant design that combines precision engineering and advanced materials, to “white-glove” support for that personal touch.”
The HP ENVY line includes leading-edge components optimised to yield power and performance. HP partnered with Beats™ Audio and Interscope artists to enable enjoyment of music the way they intended it; the audio profile is uniquely-tuned for ENVY’s exceptional audio hardware. Breakthrough Metal Etching on the magnesium case material provides a visual reminder of the luxury-level, performance and support. HP Clickpad integrates the buttons into the touchpad and allows for fluid movements, while enabling users to disable the right mouse key if desired.
HP ENVY13 : Elegant design in a size that fits perfectly on an airline tray table
The ENVY13 features a unique balance of style and substance. With carefully crafted details inside and out, demanding mobile customers will appreciate the attention HP has paid to features they crave.
The 13.1-inch HP ENVY13 is just 20mm thick and weighs less than 1.7kg, thanks to an aluminium and magnesium casing that offers lightweight durability. An etched magnesium palmrest further sets this PC apart.
The HP ENVY13 includes the highest performance components available in a compact laptop, including the industry’s brightest screen, the HP Radiance display, for premium brightness and colour, with edge-to-edge protective glass. A switchable ATI graphics card can be turned on to further enhance visual performance.
The replaceable lithium-ion polymer battery delivers up to 6 hours and 30 minutes of battery life while the optional sleek looking Slim Fit Extended-Life Laptop battery ‘slice’ delivers up to 16 hours and 15 minutes, letting jetsetters travel from virtually anywhere half way around the world on a single charge.
The Intel® Centrino® 2 low-voltage Core 2 Duo processor, 160GB solid-state or 250GB hard disk drives, and up to 5GB DDR3 memory, ensure users have plenty of power and storage for movies, music and files on-the-go. With full connectivity options, including USB, HDMI, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 2-1 card reader, users are afforded everything they need to easily and quickly access the web for information, communication and entertainment, anywhere at any time.
HP ENVY15: A perfect symmetry of extreme performance and lightweight mobility
This lean, mean, dream machine is HP’s fastest consumer laptop and the world’s thinnest, lightest quad-core laptop computer. A sleek, subtly laser-etched design is carried through to the palmrest. The magnesium casing provides lightweight durability in a less than 24mm thin and 2.4kg package.
Artistically and technically superior, the 15.6-inch HP Envy15 features the upcoming Intel® Core™ i7 Processor, up to 16GB system memory, and an optional dual hard drive including SSD option for up to 500GB, to deliver ultimate performance for demanding customers.
Technology enthusiasts and gamers can take advantage of premium graphics performance via ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4830 discrete graphics for visually intensive applications, 1GB of fast DDR3 video memory, DirectX10 games, HD video playback and an ultra-bright high-resolution (up to 1080p) display for superb viewing quality.
A Nightvision VGA webcam includes an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts to its surrounding and is optimised for lowlight or zero lighting conditions. The HP ENVY 15 has an optional Slim Fit Extended-Life Battery, giving users over 7 hours of battery life.
HP ENVY: A premium experience
HP ENVY also means a premium customer experience – top-of-the-range software, packaging and warranty service:
· A “concierge” support service includes dedicated, prioritised ENVY support via chat, phone and email from a product expert (product set up, software and applications), one- to two-year parts and labour coverage, and door-to-door pick-up and return of product for hardware servicing.
· Premium software includes the HP ENVY Instant On for fast access to key Internet applications and email without booting up the PC.
· Premium packaging – ENVY 13 and ENVY 15 are presented in streamlined paper carton boxes using minimal ink. Included in the packaging is a simplified setup poster and documents contained within an SD card.
