InTechnology’s Push To Experience (PTX) service has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Technology Excellence Section of this year’s British Computer Society (BCS) & Computing UK IT Industry Awards 2009 – www.ukitindustryawards.co.uk
PTX – www.pushtoexperience.com – is a new mobile service provided by InTechnology – www.intechnology.com – which includes several innovative features including Push to Talk (PTT) and GPS tracking.
PTX is ideal for any business or organisation where employees need to stay in regular and close contact, both individually with each other and as a group. Utilising the GSM network and low-cost handsets to improve coverage, PTX is the natural successor to 2-way radio services.
Following its initial launch in November 2008, PTX is already changing the way that businesses and organisations think about their mobile voice and data communications.
Businesses, as well as other organisations, are realising that PTX offers a simple yet sophisticated solution – one device where previously users had several, the ability to communicate instantly, the capability to view and track a colleague’s location (particularly lone workers) and the option to send an SOS alert when in danger.
PTX is now being used by InTechnology customers in hospitals, hotels, transport, agriculture, security, across business parks and other similar locations throughout the UK.
The BCS UK IT Industry Awards & Computing Awards creates a platform for the entire IT profession to showcase and celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence.
Commenting, Stefan Haase, Marketing Director for InTechnology, says: “We are delighted to be shortlisted as a finalist for this award and hope that the success of our PTX solution will demonstrate to the judges that it could be a worthy winner. PTX is very innovative and really is changing the way that companies think about how they handle and manage their mobile communications in certain situations.”
David Clarke, BCS chief executive says: “I’m particularly pleased to see so many entries in these difficult economic conditions; it reinforces the importance of IT in delivering business and social benefit. Our Awards are central to our drive to create the IT profession and the finalists can be proud of their achievements.”
Robin Booth, Publishing Director of Computing comments: “The Awards are a showcase for the very best in the UK IT industry and those who have been announced as finalists can be very proud of their outstanding achievement. The next stage of judging is going to be very difficult. The variety of entrants emphasises not only the value of IT today, but also the way which it touches so many areas of life.”
