devolo dLAN Adaptor Sales Exceed Five Million Worldwide

Milestone confirms devolo as world’s leading powerline manufacturer and reflects trend towards home networking over electrical wiring

23 September, 2009 – devolo has announced that global sales of its dLAN adaptors have exceeded five million, confirming the company’s position as the world’s leading manufacturer of powerline technology.

The milestone shipment of five million HomePlug adaptors was reached in July, and the strong sales confirm market research conducted by GfK, which indicates that devolo has a European market share of 60%, rising to 70% in territories such as Germany.

The landmark sales reflect the growing trend towards home networking over electrical wiring. The demand for innovative high-speed networking solutions for data, HD video, and audio as well as IPTV and Voice over IP (VoIP) is forecast to increase rapidly in coming years; analysts at Parks Associates expect the number of home networks to double in the next five years.

Over 40% of devolo customers use dLAN technology as their home network, accessing high-speed connections of up to 200 Mbps throughout the house, and the number of network-compatible products is growing continuously, both in the classic IT area and in consumer electronics.

dLAN provides network printers, NAS hard drives, VoIP telephones, Blu-ray players, set-top boxes and computers with an ideal home network that is easy to install, offers a high level of security thanks to AESpro encryption and guarantees consistent high transfer rates with Quality of Service.
