Reliance Communications announces the first ever 8 series mobile number for its GSM customers in Karnataka

Bangalore, September 24, 2009: To the delight of millions of mobile customers, Reliance Communications has announced the first ever mobile number series beginning with “8”. The Department of Telecommunications has recently allotted the series to Reliance Communications, Karnataka circle. The brand new number series beginning with 8088 will be available exclusively under Reliance GSM service in Karnataka. Hitherto, the customers were provisioned with the numbers beginning with 9 series. Reliance Communications is offering the “8” series on both its pre-paid and post-paid platforms across its GSM network in Karnataka.
Announcing the roll-out of its “8” series, Mr Rupak Agarwal, Karnataka Circle Head, Reliance Communications said, “We are proud to be allotted the new number series beginning with 8088”. It is a special feeling to have a number beginning with 8 which is commonly associated with the STD code of Bangalore. We are sure that the new 8088 series will help our customers differentiate our services in a crowded 9 series market and provide the necessary innovative value.” He added
