As WitsView previously mentioned, panel prices have hiked for seven consecutive months, amid downstream customers’ rising inventory level and increased set cost, panel prices in September marked the turning point of a downward trend.

Downstream clients have finalized their price negotiation with panel makers this week. According to WitsView’s observation, monitor panels will decline by $3~5 this month; and with rising inventory level in retail channels, as well as still weak panel demand in October, panel prices will likely continue their downward trends and decline by another $5~7 in October.

In September, demand for notebook panels will benefit from the introduction of Windows 7 models, and orders from downstream customers will maintain at a healthy level; panel prices fluctuate in the range of $1~2, with top-tier brand vendors enduring greater pressure to reduce prices. Panel demand in October is expected to be lower than that of September, notebook panel prices may decrease by $2~3.

Overall, LCD TV panel prices in September remained fairly stable, the small-sized panels such as 26W and 32W, have reduced by $2~3 among a few customers; and prices of 40W and above are maintained. Sales performance during China’s National Day holiday has been the focus of the market, as sales performance will affect October TV panel price trend; on the other hand, as monitor panel production capacity has loosened, it is estimated that small-sized TVs price trends will be impacted and decrease by $5~10.
