The doomed applications submitted on 24 September 2009

Cramzy today announced their recent iPhone app, Celebrity Birthday Match was approved on 4 October, but never appeared on the list of recently released apps. After some investigation, it turned out that all applications submitted to the iPhone App Store on 24-Sept are doomed not to update properly the release date, and don’t appear on the App Store’s most visible sections.

Sofia, Bulgaria – Cramzy today announced that one of their recent iPhone apps, called “Celebrity Birthday Match” was approved on 4-Oct, but never appeared on the list of recently released apps. After some investigation, it turned out that all applications submitted to the iPhone App Store on 24-Sept are doomed not to update properly the release date, therefore- not to appear on the App Store’s most visible sections.

“I remember the iTunesConnect site was down for 3 days and it went back up at the evening of 24-Sept. We then submitted our app called Celebrity Birthday Match” said Iliya Yordanov, co-founder of Cramzy. “On 4-Oct Apple approved it and I went to iTunesConnect to update the release date to 4-Oct, but it never updated on the App Store. The app has been on sale for 2 days now, and made exactly zero sales because of this bug.”

After some investigation, Iliya Yordanov found out that many developers have the exact same problem. It’s even on Apple’s Developers’ forums. At the end, it turned out that all apps submitted just after iTunesConnect was fixed, are doomed not to update properly. Cramzy has already contacted Apple about the issue, but has received no reply yet.
