Roltas Q1 FY-10 Consolidated Revenue Grows 5.3% Q-o-Q

Mumbai – Rolta India Limited, one of Indias leading IT companies, specializing in Enterprise Geospatial Information Solutions, Defense, Homeland Security (EGIS), Enterprise Design & Operation Solutions (EDOS), and Enterprise IT Solutions (EITS), today announced unaudited financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2009.

FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS

· Consolidated Revenue for Q1 FY-10 at Rs. 350.49 crores (Rs. 3504.9 Million) against Rs. 332.70 crores (Rs.3327.0 Million) in Q4 FY-09, registering a Q-o-Q growth of 5.3%.

· Consolidated EBITDA for Q1 FY-10 at Rs. 125.48 crores (Rs. 1254.8 Million) against Rs. 112.48 crores (Rs. 1124.8 Million) in Q4 FY-09, registering a Q-o-Q growth of 11.6%.

· Consolidated Net Profit for Q1 FY-10 at Rs. 56.12 crores (Rs.561.2 Million) against Rs. 51.20 crores (Rs. 512.0 Million) in Q4 FY-09 excluding profit on repurchase of FCCBs, registering a Q-o-Q growth of 9.6%.

· During the quarter the company has renamed its business segments to reflect the enterprise nature of its business and the innovative solutions available from these business segments. The business segments have been renamed as:

- Geospatial/Defense, Homeland Security(GIS) to Enterprise Geospatial Information Solutions (EGIS);

- Engineering Design Services (EDS) to Enterprise Design & Operation Solutions (EDOS);

- Enterprise Information & Communication Technology (EICT) to Enterprise IT Solutions (EITS).

Commenting on the results, Mr. K. K. Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, said: “In these challenging times, Rolta has been able to perform reasonably well with both consolidated revenues and consolidated PAT growing. Our continued focus and exceptional ability of providing innovative solutions that extract meaningful insights from information and provide a deep impact in our customer environments, positions us uniquely to take advantage of the expected economic revival”.

Corporate Highlights

The Company has transformed its business from services centric to a solutions oriented model. This has enabled ROLTA to operate at a much higher level in the value chain. The portfolio of offerings now includes ROLTAs own intellectual property (IP) as part of the solutions for various verticals. This approach is steadily building up a base of licensed IP that would result in ever increasing annuity as compared to the traditional services model.

The Company has undertaken an exercise to re-brand itself in a manner that reflects the new business model, so as to be seen as a high-caliber provider of enterprise level integrated solutions. This effort is starting to bear fruit globally, and ROLTA is now being increasingly invited worldwide for consultation for systems integration and cross-functional solutions.

To effectively develop, sell and support innovative solutions, the Company continues to hire experienced management and highly-skilled technical staff. ROLTA was ranked at the #1 position in Human Relations (HR), and at the 3rd position in overall ranking in the 2009 DATAQUEST survey of Best Employers in the IT sector.

OPERATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

Enterprise Geospatial Information Solutions (EGIS)
During the quarter, the Company focused on further enhancing & deploying Rolta Geospatial FusionTM, its unique solution for enabling fusion of various disparate geospatial and non-spatial databases and software applications, for specific verticals, like utilities, economic development, asset management, etc. Rolta continues to win Orders in India, North America, the Middle East and Africa for these solutions.

The Company also launched state-of-the-art solutions for Earth Science applications. These solutions are based on an exceptional combination of Roltas existing repository of intellectual property and key technologies acquired at the source code level, from various companies worldwide. Rolta Earth Science solutions provide some of the most advanced Geo-Imaging and Photogrammetry capabilities, and are being actively used for mission-critical applications, by hundreds of users, across the country. These advanced and user friendly technologies seamlessly integrate with the extensive repository of Rolta Geospatial solutions, e.g. Rolta Geospatial FusionTM, and are complementary to leading GIS platforms.

The Company continues to maintain its leadership in the Indian Defense Geospatial market. By working shoulder-to-shoulder and being in close proximity support with its customers, in conflict zones and extremely demanding conditions, the Company along with its JV with Thales (RTL), continues to gain deep insights and deliver innovative solutions for Defense, Homeland and Maritime Security. These mission-critical solutions have a very strong impact in empowering the Armed Forces and Security Agencies in making the world a safer place. With India looking to rapidly modernize its Defense & Security Agencies, the Company is very well positioned to address large opportunities resulting from the significantly increased budgets for Defense, Homeland & Maritime Security.

Enterprise Design & Operations Solutions (EDOS)
ROLTA continues to further develop and enhance its innovative solutions for plant operations. The Rolta OneViewTM solution has been deployed at additional large refining facilities, worldwide, and is providing significant benefits to the Companys customers. For example, the reliability index is one of the most important KPIs in any plant. Achieving even a 1% improvement in plant reliability can increase production by millions of dollars while at the same time, plant operational efficiency is improved. There are hundreds of other KPIs that can affect plant operations. This is the world of Rolta OneViewTM. A world in which expensive downtime is reduced and operational processes are improved because managers have access to the convergence of critical information in a structured way to make timely and intelligent decisions.

The Company continues to work on large engineering projects, some of them for the worlds largest and most complex plants of their type. The Companys JV with the Shaw Group, – Shaw Rolta Limited continues to make good progress. The Company is positioned well to take advantage of opportunities opening up in the Indian oil & gas, conventional & nuclear power sector, by leveraging the strengths of its JV partner, The Shaw Group Inc., USA, a world leader in this field.

Enterprise Information Technology Solutions (EITS)
Rolta continues to strengthen and build its EITS portfolio and capabilities to address various requirements, like Business Intelligence, Enterprise Applications, Core Database Foundation as well as Data Security and Service Management . The Company leverage best-of-breed technologies, from the Companys own IP repository, and those of its partners and the Companys comprehensive suite of services. Rolta Solutions and middleware tools permit integration across layers of information and data, thereby eliminating the challenges associated with standalone data silos that emerge within enterprises. For example, the ROLTA iPerspectiveTM solution (patent-pending filed in US) innovatively brings data integration to life and provides customers with a rapid return on investment due to a shorter implementation time and an agile approach to managing transition.
