Canopyâ„¢ Wireless Broadband

Motorola today announced the launch of its Canopy™ Wireless Broadband system in India. Canopy™ is an internationally proven, always on, high speed broadband solution for cost-effective, secure and flexible connectivity for networks, government, institutions, homes and internet service providers. It enables a secure, flexible and reliable wireless broadband connectivity and a cost-effective means for “last mile” high speed internet and data access for building, enhancing and extending broadband networks and services

A key differentiator of Canopyâ„¢ is that it significantly reduces the time to design and deploy new commercial and enterprise broadband networks. It seamlessly integrates with existing network systems and management tools, to make extending and augmenting existing service simpler and less cost-intensive while catering to high demand services like Voice over IP, video service, Broadband IP and Security Surveillance. Its superior performance promises one of the lowest total costs of ownership and can significantly reduce a provider’s start-up (returns on investment can be achieved within 6 to 12 months), maintenance and leased-line costs. Canopyâ„¢ enables point-to-point service within a range of 35 miles and point-to-multipoint service with a range upto 10 miles. Endorsed by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) with FIPS 197 certificate, the system operates on 5.8 Ghz public frequency. This brings down the installation and running cost, providing Canopyâ„¢ with cost advantage.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dennis Stipati, Director International Sales, Motorola Canopy™ said : “These systems have been deployed in more than 85 countries around the world. In Asia, the solution is commercially deployed in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines and Taiwan. It is ideally suited for India given the country’s geographical and market size, its low Internet penetration levels and the need for rapid deployment of cost effective broadband solutions”.

Mr. Amit Sharma, Vice President, South & South-East Asia, Motorola Inc added “What makes Canopy™ particularly attractive and relevant to India is that it offers several uses. These range from connectivity for far flung remote areas, promotion of the government’s programmes on healthcare, education, e-governance, not to mention a variety of uses in business enterprises”.
