JABIL BREAKS GROUND ON CHENNAI MANUFACTURING FACILITY
New Delhi, India, 18 September 2006 – Jabil, a global leader in electronic product solutions, broke ground recently and officially launched construction of a new facility in Chennai, India. Total investment for the project is estimated at more than USD $70 million.
Senior management from Jabil as well as customers and local governmental officials attended the ground-breaking.
“The new Jabil facility will include a production area with state-of-the-art equipment running the latest manufacturing processes; a dedicated display for demonstrating design and product development capabilities in Asia and an office complex to serve administrative needs,†said Bill Muir, Regional President, Jabil Asia.
The facility will play a significant role in Jabil’s expansion plan in India as it will allow the company to undertake large-scale production for some of the world’s biggest brand name product companies.
The facility will be operational in early 2007 and will be more than 400,000 sq. ft. when all construction phases are completed. As construction takes place over the next several months, production will continue in Jabil’s current Chennai location.
