Kodak Earns 100 Percent Ranking on Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index

The Human Rights Campaign has given Eastman Kodak Company a 100 percent ranking on its Corporate Equality Index, marking the fifth consecutive time Kodak has earned the HRC’s top ranking since the CEI began in 2002. The Corporate Equality Index is a tool used to rate American businesses on how they are treating gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors. Companies often use the index as a “road map” to equal treatment for GLBT Americans in the workplace and marketplace. HRC, based in Washington, D.C., announced its annual rankings today.

“Kodak has made diversity and inclusion a business imperative that helps shape the company’s culture of winning,” said Essie L. Calhoun, Chief Diversity Officer, Director of Community Affairs, and a Kodak vice president. “This recognition helps reinforce our commitment to growing a company in which all stakeholders are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.”

HRC’s criteria for the annual ranking include identifying companies’ support of gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgender employee networks, availability of domestic partner benefits, and the presence of a company diversity council that addresses GLBT issues.

Kodak has offered domestic partner health benefits since 1997. Earlier this year, Kodak revised its employee medical plans to provide coverage for medical services related to transgender procedures to the same extent as services already covered under the plans for other health conditions. The company’s Lambda employee network has led many employee-education sessions that help employees express their concerns regarding GLBT matters.
