Opera Mini gets bigger in Denmark
Opera Software, a global leader in Web browsing technologies, today announced a distribution agreement with TDC A/S, Denmark’s leading provider of mobile telecommunication services. Under the terms of the agreement, the Opera Miniâ„¢ Mobile browser can be downloaded by TDC’s Danish users directly to their phones by sending a free SMS with the word “opera” to 1202. The offer will also extend to service providers and their customers using the TDC network.
The powerful Opera Mini browser reformats regular Web content to fit the width of mobile screens utilizing Opera’s unique Small-Screen Rendering (SSR) technology. Mobile phone users downloading Opera Mini will be able to reduce costs through faster downloading times. Featuring bookmark speed dials, content download, skinning and browsing history, Opera Mini provides users with quick and easy access to all their favorite Web sites from their current mobile device.
“We’re excited that TDC’s customers can get Opera Mini, so that they have a totally new way to surf the Web on their mobile phones,” says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “By combining our leading edge technology with TDC’s strong product portfolio, users will now be able to check their e-mail and use their favorite Internet services on phones that previously haven’t been capable of running a Web browser.”
Since its successful launch in January 2006, Opera Mini has attracted more than 5 million people worldwide. Leading mobile operators and handset manufacturers have realized Mini’s market potential and are pre-installing the browser on selected handsets, revolutionizing the way people access Web content.
