Opera and KDDI strengthen commitment to provide mobile browsing in Japan
Opera Software, world leader in Web browser technologies, and KDDI, Japan’s leading 3G operator, today announced a renewal of their commitment to include the Opera Mobileâ„¢ browser on KDDI’s 3G handsets in Japan. KDDI and Opera first entered into a partnership in August 2004 to fulfill the promise of 3G capabilities in Japan, and the browser has since been included on 27 KDDI phones.
“KDDI is Japan’s leading 3G operator, the fastest growing mobile carrier in Japan, a technology leader of the CDMA world and the first to recognize Opera’s potential in providing unparalleled Web access on mobile devices,” says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “We are very happy to strengthen our commitment with KDDI in delivering the ultimate in mobile Web browsing to the Japanese market.”
“The Opera Mobileâ„¢ browser has become a major selling point for our popular 3G series. Based on the success of the last two years, we are excited to further strengthen our strategic partnership with Opera Software and include the ‘PC Site Viewer’ on all KDDI WIN series devices,” says Masahiro Inoue, Senior vice president, “au” Service & Product Planning Division. “Opera Mobileâ„¢ is a leading, state-of-the-art mobile browser that meets and exceeds the high demands of KDDI and its subscribers, and therefore the natural choice to power our mobile Web offering.”
