Today marks the launch date for a new music initiative by Tradebit, Inc. This Delaware-based company’s innovative web marketplace for digital content, currently providing support for images, documents, sound files, and more, will expand with the help of U.K. music distributor, 7digital. This new program will offer DRM-free song downloads for people in the United States and Germany. This initiative will not require signing up for a new service.
Since 2004, Tradebit.com has empowered individuals to sell uploaded files over the web. The easy-to-use upload format has become a favorite for independent musicians; since 2006, Tradebit.com has emerged as the leading digital sales outlet for bands who use CD Baby, a very popular indie distributor.
This new partnership has expanded Tradebit’s MP3 selection to over 5 million download-able songs which are available now. Consumers who choose to buy these new audio files will not be required to sign up for a new account of any kind; U.S. consumers can simply make their instant purchase with a trusted and secure online payment service such as Google Checkout or Paypal. For European customers, other direct debit payment options are available as well.
Tradebit.com serves as an online marketplace for over 25,000 merchants to sell over 10 million files. This content varies in price from pennies to several hundred U.S. Dollars. Ralf Schwoebel, chief executive officer and founder of Tradebit.com, explains his commitment to supporting content providers, “Most of the traffic on Tradebit comes from search engines and the merchants themselves, who probably know their customers better than we do and use us as a tool and platform to sell and deliver.” He indicates that the site receives over 150,000 unique visitors each day.
The company has worked hard to provide added value to the merchants who use their platform. Tradebit offers direct sales buttons for sellers to use on their websites. They provide advanced affiliate network integration. They also support plug-ins for third party social media platforms like Twitter. These applications are also available for popular blogging services. This allows merchants to integrate their direct sales buttons into their entire web presence. Merchants are also given additional file hosting for free.
Tradebit, Inc. is a privately held company with locations in Frankfurt, Germany and Delaware, U.S.A. Alexa.com ranks Tradebit in the top 4,000 websites on Earth. Quantcast.com has valued their traffic as among the top 2,000 sites in the United States market.
This innovative online marketplace currently provides language support for English, Spanish, and German speakers. Tradebit will be expanding to meet the needs of Italian speakers with the launch of additional language support before Christmas of 2009.
