New Delhi, 29th December 2009: Tata Indicom, the CDMA brand of Tata Teleservices today announced the launch of a high speed data enabled phone that will allow both prepaid and postpaid subscribers to access high speed data on the fly. Introducing the new Samsung Corby, it’s the first high end open market handset device that will be available to all Tata Indicom customers across India.
Announcing the first ever high speed data enabled mobile device on CDMA (Photon + – High speed broadband services) platform, Mr. Lloyd Mathias, Chief Marketing Officer, Tata Teleservices Limited, said: these are good and exciting times for Tata Indicom subscribers where they enjoy the status of having a high end phone. Earlier this year when we announced our Open market handset initiative, we had promised that we will soon offer high end mobile devices that supports both voice and data and our partnership with Samsung is the first step in this direction. Not alone this, we have also bundled high speed data plans along with Samsung Corby that will work as high speed broadband wireless services.â€
This new year Tata Indicom subscribers will have a reason to smile! Both prepaid and postpaid users can now access their personal mail accounts, social networking sites, download various chat accounts and do much more with the phone. Using prepaid recharge vouchers subscribers can now access internet anytime anywhere with recharge option of as low as Rs 28. There are 3 different recharge denominations Rs 28 will allow customers to access internet at flat 50 paise per MB throughout the day. While RCV 152 offers price point of 50 paise per MB from 7.00 AM to 11.00 PM and a special night surfing plan of 25 paise per MB from 11.00 PM to 7.00 AM. A very aggressive RCV of 351 will offer data surfing flat at just 25 paisa per MB throughout the day. The recharge validity is 30 days from the day of recharge.
Postpaid subscribers can also avail free trial usage of 10GB each for the first 2 months. Post consumption of the free trial period postpaid customers will be charged 50 paise per MB for any additional data usage. On a rental plan of Samsung Corby 450 plan, customers will get bundled usage of 512 MB post which the customers will be charged 50 paise per MB. What’s more postpaid customers will also get aggressive voice plan where all local calls to any network will be charged at 30 paisa per minute, whereas all STD and roaming calls will be charged at only 50 paise per minute. All local and National SMS will be charged at just 50 paise per SMS.
Existing prepaid subscribers also have an option to upgrade to Samsung Corby without using any recharge vouchers. Even without using the data Recharges, prepaid subscribers will be charged Rs 1 for every MB data usage
