Eastern Software Systems awarded for “Development of New Markets—Africa Region” by Electronics & Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC)
New Delhi, October 05, 2006: Eastern Software System (ESS), India’s premier ERP company offering cutting edge technology solutions and services to SMBs and enterprises has been felicitated with special award for “Development of New Markets—Africa Region” for the year 2003-2004 by Electronics & Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) at a formal ceremony held recently.
India’s premier trade promotion organization, ESC, under the aegis of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, organized “Awards for Excellence in Exports for 2003-2004 and 2004-2005″ and recognized the pioneering work done by ESS in terms of computer software exports to the Africa region.
ESS, in the recent past, has actively participated and showcased its products and solutions in IT exhibitions like FUTUREX 2006 at South Africa, AITEC 2006 at Ghana, IBN Conference at Tanzania and the IT Africa Exhibition at Zimbabwe.
According to Anil Bakht, Chairman and Managing Director, Eastern Software Systems, “Having attained success in India, especially with small and medium businesses (SMBs), we have been making coercive forays in the international market. We have translated user interfaces for our software product in five international languages–Arabic, French, Russian, Spanish and Thai besides English—such that the product is more acceptable in countries abroad. Arabic is one of the major languages used in MENA (Middle East and Northern Africa) countries. What’s more, we have been participating in all significant IT exhibitions and conferences in the Africa region. As a result, our flagship ERP product ‘ebizframe’ has achieved encouraging market penetration and acceptance in the continent. The award by ESC is a true recognition of this effort by Team ESS.”
“We have always had a proactive approach towards global opportunities. We are always on the lookout to understand and update our product in accordance with the necessities of national as well as international clients. We firmly believe in the fact that software products from India, including ours, are competent enough to make a place for themselves in international markets. Our government’s initiative to recognize and award electronics and software exports through trade promotion organizations like ESC is highly warranted and appreciable,” said Mr. Sanjay Agarwala, Director, Eastern Software Systems, who received the award from Mr. Jainder Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India.
In his forward message to the awardees, Mr. Dayanidhi Maran, Minister for Communications & Information Technology, Govt of India, stated that IT exporters deserved kudos for India’s emergence as a strong IT nation. He was of the view that the Government’s vision to achieve software and services exports of US 50$ billion and US $10 billion in the hardware sector by the year 2008 is within easy reach.
According to Mr. Jainder Singh, Secretary, Ministry Communications & Information Technology, Government of India, maintaining a growth of over 30% has been a significant achievement. DK Sareen, Executive Director, ESC announced that Indian exports of electronics and computer software & services in the fiscal 2005-06 were to the tune of US $25.89 billion, constituting a share of about 15.58 per cent in India’s overall export earnings. IT exports to over 200 countries establishes the hallmark of India’s quality and competitiveness.
