Seagate Strengthens its Maxtor OneTouch and Maxtor Shared Storage Product Families

Addressing the rising need for more space to enjoy and backup large video files, photos and rich audio content, Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX) today announced that it is shipping this month new capacity points of its Maxtor Shared Storage(tm) II and Maxtor OneTouch(tm) III storage and backup solutions for computers, laptops and small networks. Being shown at the Digital Life show, which opens to the public October 12-15 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in NY, the Maxtor OneTouch III Turbo Edition, the king of the family, is now available with up to 1.5TB of high performance, large capacity storage with user-configurable RAID for intensive disc-access applications.

The Maxtor OneTouch III single-drive desktop solution is now offered in up to 750GB and the Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition sports 160GB for users needing a convenient way to carry tons of digital content while on the go. In addition to the currently shipping 1TB size, the Maxtor Shared Storage II now comes in single-drive solutions providing 320GB or 500GB of space to centralize and share content on a home or small business network. Both the Maxtor OneTouch III and Maxtor Shared Storage II families include sophisticated, easy-to-use software that makes protecting valuable files nearly effortless via automatic backup directly from PCs and Macs or on home and small office networks.

“We are proud to now offer the full line of Maxtor data protection solutions alongside Seagate’s external hard drives,” said Jim Druckrey, senior vice president and general manager, Seagate Branded Solutions. “Maxtor OneTouch and Maxtor Shared Storage solutions have smart, innovative backup capabilities that make them the easiest and most trustworthy way to store, protect, share and enjoy your business data or personal information.”

Maxtor OneTouch III family of desktop solutions provides simple automatic backup and storage with Maxtor DriveLock(tm) to protect the contents of your drive in case of loss or unauthorized use. Now up to 750GB, there’s ample room to store your videos, photos, graphics, music, and more in one convenient location. The Maxtor OneTouch III solution features a simple Maxtor user-interface for drive management, security, and automatic backup scheduling, as well as System Rollback that returns a PC system to a healthier state after a damaging spyware or virus attack, while keeping data current, and data synchronization between two or more computers. A combination of interfaces is available for Mac and PC users. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the Maxtor OneTouch III external storage product family ranges from $149.99 (160GB) to $499.99 (750GB).
