SEOUL, Korea – January 3, 2005 – Samsung is offering assistance and planning ongoing relief efforts following the earthquake off Sumatra and the resulting tidal wave that struck nations around the Indian Ocean on December 26. Company officials, a ss essing the extent of the damage in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, India and Sri Lanka , quickly decided to send US$1 million in cash and various relief supplies. At the same time, more than 10,000 Samsung employees volunteered to take part in relief work.
