New Version of Exalead Desktop Search Offers Unlimited Document Indexing Capability

Latest Release of Workgroup Software Delivers Performance Enhancements, New Features that Further Reduce Search Frustration

NEW YORK – October 16, 2006 – Exalead®, a global provider of search software for business and the Web, today announced new versions of its unified search software products for desktop and workgroup environments. The new releases – exalead one:desktop™ 4.5 and exalead one:workgroup™ 4.5 – offer several new performance enhancements as well as support for new file formats and e-mail clients.

Of note, the new exalead one:desktop 4.5 Professional Edition now has no indexing limitations, a first for desktop search. This capability is also part of exalead one:workgroup 4.5. This means users now have the ability to index an unlimited number of documents, regardless of format or location, at no additional cost. Exalead will continue to offer a free downloadable version of its exalead one:desktop software product that can index up to 100,000 documents.

As a standalone product, exalead one:desktop 4.5 offers unified access to information located on a hard drive, in applications like e-mail or on the Web. When integrated with exalead one:workgroup, the two products serve as a secure, affordable and easy-to-manage solution for a small business or a department within a larger organization.

The new functionality of release 4.5 builds on Exalead’s intuitive user interface and patented navigation technology, which allows users to search by serendipity®. New features and enhancements include:

– Infinite Scalability: Users of exalead one:desktop 4.5 Professional Edition can index an unlimited number of documents, regardless of format or location. exalead one:workgroup 4.5 users will also enjoy infinite scalability on the desktop through an integrated workgroup solution.
– Fast Query Response: Exalead’s refined server technology allows for response times of less than one second, even when dealing with large document collections or e-mail archives.
– Optimize Search Performance on any PC: Users can now optimize search speed for instantaneous search results, even on older systems or laptops. While Exalead configures itself to maximize search performance without impacting a system’s usability, users can now manually decrease the amount of RAM used by Exalead’s search engine.
– Expanded E-mail Client Support: exalead one:desktop now supports Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Lotus Notes and Mozilla Thunderbird clients with POP, IMAP 4 or Microsoft Exchange mail accounts.
– Support for 300+ File Formats: Users can now index more than 300 file formats, including Microsoft (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat PDF documents and many other legacy formats, which are ideal for indexing personal archives.
– Rich Document Preview: Users can now preview documents, including e-mail attachments with embedded images, fonts and styles, without having the original application installed on their PCs. This feature allows users to view hundreds of documents sent by friends or colleagues, or archived documents on the PC for which the application may no longer be installed.
– Optimized for Multi-Core and Multi-Processor PCs: The fully multi-threaded design of Exalead’s indexing engine is optimized for multi-processor desktop PCs and the new Intel Dual Core multi-core processors to take full advance of system performance.
