Seagate Named 2006 Sun Supplier of the Year
Seagate (NYSE: STX), the world’s #1 hard disc drive and storage solutions company, was named 2006 Supplier of the Year by Sun Microsystems for its ability to deliver superior quality and value to Sun’s customers. “We are honored by Sun’s selection of Seagate as Supplier of the Year,” said Sherman Black, general manager and senior vice president, Seagate Enterprise Compute business. “Seagate’s highest priority is ensuring that our customers’ needs are met, and we remain dedicated to helping Sun succeed with its own Best-In-Class enterprise solutions.”
Suppliers are judged on their performance in the areas of quality, lead-time and delivery, cost and strategic and technical development. Based on these criteria, Sun awards suppliers for Best-In-Class and Meritorious Performance, and also names one Supplier of the Year. The Best-In-Class award compares the performance of all suppliers who deliver a similar product or service and recognizes the highest performer in that area, while the Meritorious award recognizes suppliers who have gone the extra mile in one or more performance areas. The Supplier of the Year is selected for its extraordinary contributions to Sun’s record of delivering top-quality technology and service to its customers.
“Each year Sun Microsystems recognizes the ‘best of the best’ suppliers for their contributions to outstanding product quality and customer value,” said Eugene McCabe, executive vice president of Worldwide Operations at Sun. “Seagate helped Sun exceed our customers’ expectations, and we congratulate them on their achievement.”
