Bharti Airtel is amongst India’s Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises in 2006

Bharti Airtel, India’s leading telecom services provider, is amongst India’s ‘Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises” (MAKE) in 2006, announced at the INFOVISION summit held in Bangalore recently. With this, Bharti continued to add to its impressive list of awards and is the only telecom services company in the world to be part of the prestigious list of MAKE 2006. A panel of senior Indian business executives and leading Indian-based knowledge management and intellectual capital experts selected this year’s Indian MAKE Winners.

The expert panel rated organizations founded and headquartered in India against a framework of eight key knowledge performance dimensions which are the visible drivers of competitive advantage. The 2006 Indian MAKE winners have been recognized as leaders in – creating a corporate knowledge-driven culture; developing knowledge workers through senior management leadership; delivering knowledge-based products, services and solutions; maximizing enterprise intellectual capital; creating an environment for collaborative knowledge sharing; creating a learning organization; delivering value based on customer knowledge and transforming enterprise knowledge into shareholder value.

Bharti Airtel was recognized for its organizational learning, and managing customer knowledge abilities. Mr. Manoj Kohli, President, Bharti Airtel Limited said, “We, at Bharti Airtel firmly believe that knowledge is a key differentiator for our business and channeling it appropriately helps us to continuously deliver enhanced experience to our customers and greater sustained value to our other stakeholders. We are delighted that our efforts for creating a positive knowledge economy have been recognized through the MAKE Award. We are also thrilled to note that we are the only Telecom services provider to have received this award globally”.

The 2006 Indian MAKE study serves as a benchmark to recognize Indian companies which are leaders in effectively transforming enterprise knowledge into wealth-creating ideas, products and solutions. One of the clearest metrics to demonstrate this fact is Total Shareholder Return (TSR). Last year, the TSR for the 2006 Indian MAKE Winners was 28%, more than five times that of the US Fortune 500 company median 5.4%.
