Pentaho Announces Google Maps Integration

Pentaho Dashboards Mashup with Google Maps Enables Innovative, AJAX-Based Location Intelligence Applications

ORLANDO, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Pentaho Corp., creator of the world’s most popular open source business intelligence (BI) suite, today announced the availability of a new release of Pentaho Dashboards that provides live, dynamic, first-in-class integration with Google Maps. The integration leverages new Pentaho AJAX components to provide interactive geographical visualization capabilities, facilitating the deployment of location intelligence applications that enable in-depth geographic-based analysis of business patterns.

With Pentaho’s new map-based visualization capabilities, location-based metrics can be tied to maps superimposed on Pentaho’s graphical dashboards in order to accelerate and enrich the analysis process. The combination of Pentaho’s charts and other graphically expressed metrics with visual geographic information can help companies rapidly identify regions associated with certain customer behaviors or spending patterns, aid in site selection for business expansion, zero in on location-based business opportunities, and gain other insights that are difficult to see in a traditional report or spreadsheet.

The new functionality enhances the other features of Pentaho Dashboards, including integration with Pentaho Reporting and Pentaho Analysis enabling users to drill down to underlying reports and analysis to understand the factors contributing to the information displayed.

It also makes Pentaho the first BI company to provide live, interactive integration with Google Maps, reflecting the ability of Pentaho’s technology platform and professional open source business model to deliver faster innovation compared to proprietary BI vendors. A recent study published by Ventana Research showed mapping as the most important capability in location intelligence applications.

“Pentaho has taken an innovative approach to enabling location intelligence applications,” said Mark Smith, CEO and Executive VP of Research at Ventana Research. “The technology and business approach that Pentaho has taken should make it simpler and more cost effective than other traditional approaches for organizations to embed location intelligence into their BI deployments.”

“This upgrade clearly demonstrates the agility of Pentaho’s professional open source business model and the company’s vision in applying the latest technologies to equip business users with the tools they need to make better decisions,” said Richard Daley, CEO of Pentaho Corp. “With these new ‘mashboards’ and the help of our community, we continue to deliver the best of BI with a level of flexibility and value that simply are not available from proprietary providers.”

Pentaho’s new Google Maps integration is included with the latest release of Pentaho Open BI Suite, available immediately for download at www.pentaho.org. A pre-recorded demonstration is also available at www.pentaho.org.
