Opera SDK to Include Support for MontaVista Professional Edition
Opera Software today announced its support for MontaVista Professional Edition. The Opera for Home Media Software Development Kit (SDK) will include support for MontaVista’s Linux platform which is increasingly selected for home media devices. Device manufacturers using MontaVista’s Linux platform can now bring the full Internet to their products with Opera.
Including support for MontaVista Professional Edition in Opera’s SDK gives a wide range of operator and consumer electronic devices, including set-top boxes, media players, video phones and high definition televisions, the ability to run full, rich content and provides developers the greatest level of flexibility for delivering their solution. Opera will include referenced builds within its Home Media SDK, using MontaVista tools to build high quality products. The results are lower total development costs and reduced time-to-market.
“MontaVista Linux is becoming the strategic platform of choice for many device and telecommunications manufacturers,” said Jim Ready, president and CEO, MontaVista Software. “We look forward to working with Opera to provide a flexible, open, standards-based solution for developers and users who require a full-featured, rich, Web experience.”
“Opera’s collaboration with MontaVista represents a mutual commitment to further the development of new, sophisticated, embedded Web applications,” says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “Together, we are bringing the full Internet to Home Media devices while maintaining the highest level of W3C standards compliance.”
