Via To Supply Eden Platfom Processors For Hp’s New Range Of Thin Client Computers
Chip maker VIA Technologies today said that it will supply its high-performance, energy-efficient VIA Edenâ„¢ Platform to HP for powering its forthcoming Compaq branded new range thin client computers.
Under the terms of agreement the VIA’s Eden ESP ultra low power processor will be incorporated into the Compaq t5125, t5520 and t5525 thin clients.
VIA’ s processor incorporated in the Compaq brand thin clients will help in bringing enhanced levels of performance, reliability and functionality to the corporate environment, this design win further strengthens VIA’s leadership in this fast-emerging thin client market segment.
Thin clients are a holistic cost-effective personal computers or terminals, which downloads the program from the server and performs processing just like a PC but all programs and data are stored on the server with a network-based computing model. The new HP Compaq t5125, t5520 and t5525 fine-tune the concept with a range of smart, small footprint designs, capable of meeting the demands of the corporate environment with the high-performance, ultra-low power of VIA Eden processors.

The new thin clients are expected to be available mid-June 2005.
