IP Commerce Joins Interop Vendor Alliance with Microsoft and Other Industry Leaders

Alliance Committed to Connecting People, Data and Diverse Systems

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–IP Commerce, Inc., a software company enabling open payment services between businesses, today announced that it has joined the Interop Vendor Alliance, an industry-wide organization working to connect people, data and diverse systems through better interoperability with Microsoft systems.

IP Commerce joined the Interop Vendor Alliance to extend its support for interoperability within the electronic payments industry. Until now, the introduction of new payment services had been limited by proprietary platforms and languages, and involved costly and time-consuming integrations. IP Commerce’s IP Payments Framework™ (IPPF) removes integration barriers and significantly reduces development time to introduce new payment services that operate over broadband, and enables interoperability between diverse payment platform technologies. This gives businesses more choices regarding their online payment options while payment services vendors can roll out new services to a broader audience and grow their business.

“Our membership in the Interop Vendor Alliance brings us that much closer to realizing our vision for an open payments system over broadband,” said Chip Kahn, CEO, IP Commerce. “Windows Vista and its new technologies provide the marketplace with an open, yet secure, environment to facilitate the development and deployment of new payment-enabled services to small businesses everywhere.”

Earlier this year, IP Commerce introduced the PASS™ (Payments as a Secure Service) Consortium, a group of leading financial institutions and payment service providers working together to create a unique offering to Microsoft Windows Vista users. The PASS Consortium includes BankServ, CashEdge, Chase Paymentech, CIT Group, Inc. (NYSE:CIT), Internet Commerce Corporation (ICC) (Nasdaq:ICCA) and PayPal. The product of this consortium is the PASS solution powered by IP Commerce’s IPPF. PASS leverages many unique features of the Windows Vista operating system including the Windows sidebar, Gadget, desktop search, Windows Presentation Foundation and the Windows Security Center.

“We are pleased to welcome IP Commerce to the Interop Vendor Alliance as a founding member,” said Sam Rosenbalm, Business Development Manager, Microsoft. “By uniting disparate payment platforms and commerce technologies, IP Commerce has done some important interoperability work. We welcome their experience and expertise in this area.”
